Hey guys A buddy of mine wants to start playin again, and really wants me to join him... But I have a few questions before i restart my daoc experience :)

1) Tradeskills: How have they changed? crafting is going to be my #1 focus when i return, I love crafting. I'm worried about everyone being rich and crafting not having any real purpose, no money making or anything.

2) How is the player community? Are there any people left? Are bg's empty at lower levels (20-24 etc)?

3) Is crafting obsolete? Are the new gear/items out there too good to compete with crafting, or is crafting still a wise investment?

4) Any other comments/suggestions would be greatful, thanks for your time

***Crafting is very much in demand. Armor crafting and Spellcrafting are the two highest profit makers, but alchemists can make a very steady income as well (from selling potions..you just have to work a lot to earn money for this craft). weapon crafters can not make money until they can make legendary weapons, but can be successful. Tailors items are needed, but not as expensive as the Armor crafters items (same tradeskills, but armor crafters make metallic/reinforced leather items, whereas tailors make cloth/leather items), so tailors profit margin is a bit less. Fletching is not a recommened craft imo.2)

How is the player community? Are there any people left? Are bg's empty at lower levels (20-24 etc)? The 20-24 bg is actually the most popular one....on most cluster/servers, it has people in it 24/7...there are slower times in it, but even experienced players often go to this bg just for the fun of it. I have several toons in Thidranki...the molvik bg is also very fun and popular..the level 40-44 and 45-49 bg's sometimes are active, but not very often..the 25-29 and 30-34 are not worth going to b/c almost everyone skips them).

3) Is crafting obsolete? Are the new gear/items out there too good to compete with crafting, or is crafting still a wise investment? I already answered this...crafting is needed in some form (usually 3, AC or tailoring and then spellcrafting and alchemist) in every decent template. Leg weapons have their use as the best weapons out there for certain classes.

4) Any other comments/suggestions would be greatful, thanks for your time.

The game is dying, but it can still be fun. It is certainly more difficult for new people to find information and groups now b/c the game is older. The PvP is the best in the MMORPG world. I said 20-24 bg is populated, but the leveling is another story..people can level from 1-50 in 10 hours or less (by knowing certain well-known tricks/hotspots where experience is insane). If you stick with the game, it can be rewarding, or if you don't mind leveling solo or have a friend to help you with. Try it out is the best advice I can give.

if you are by yourself, TD's are a very good spot...battleground mobs are also always near your level and decent xp

I don't know which realm you are, so I can't give an exact spot for non-TD's location
