which relm ??Follow

#1 Aug 20 2006 at 9:08 AM Rating: Decent
Hi,
I am trying to create another toon on a different relm and thus on a different server.
The server I want to play is where several friends are playing now.
However When i start toon creation on that server it wont let me select the relm I want !!
I have no other toons on that server and never have had.
Everytime i go there it puts me straight into Midgard race selection. This is odd as I already have Midgard toons on another server !!
So strictly speaking it should not be allowing me to go Midgard on this server, but it is the only one it lets me take !!

Has anyone had this before or know how to sort this out ??

It is because you are trying to create toons on a server that is clustered with a server you have mids already made on. You'll have to delete those characters to be able to choose a realm.

So in fact, dispite what the manual and documentation says, I cant have a Midgard toon on excalibur and a Hiberian toon on prydwen ??

I am not sur which clusters these are on as neither are listed on the cluster lists i found on the DAOC herald site..

Also, one of my friends has exactly this toon set up and did not mention any problems he had setting his toons up..

I don't know about the European servers, so I can't tell you what servers are clustered.

Here is how it works on the US servers.

Lets take Bossiney cluster for example.

It has Ector and Lamorak as the servers clustered on it.

If you have toons on Ector for Alb, then you can only create alb toons on Lamorak. They put this rule in to try to hinder x-realming.

Now, if it is this way on Euro servers too, the explanation for your friend having the setup you want to have is that his toons were created before the cluster.

If you had Albs on Ector and Mids on Lamorak BEFORE the cluster occurred, Mythic decided they could not make you delete toons you already had created, so in that case, you could play two realms on the same cluster (or three on clusters with at least 3 servers). You could create more albs on Ector or more mids on Lamorak, but never hibs. You would have to wait 15 minutes after logging out your alb toons before logging onto your mid toons (again to help hinder someone getting info on alb battlegroups for instance and then logging onto mid and telling people the info).

Hope that helps.

Hmm, I know he has been playing a long time so may be pre cluster restrictions then......

If you can't find info for the european servers online, then when you log on you can go to a chaneller to see what servers you can cross over into. Then it's a process of elimination. To join your friend you'll have to either delete as stated above or take the plunge with an other account. (the extreme approach)
