Classic serversFollow

Im tired of World of warcraft, same old grind. Ive gotten to 60, ive done MC ZG BWL. Personally I think all those end game instances are boring. And im pretty damn bored with the pvp system. Then I heard about this game through xfire. It sounded like the exact game I wanted. RVR, defending points. ALL what WoW COULDVE been if it werent for the lazy players who complain so much to blizz.

So anyway I start browsing random forums reading, and from what I get, there are "buff bots" which ruin pvp, or something. Everyone didnt like it, then these "Classic" servers were created. What are they? Do they cost extra?

---

Just been reading a little more, what the heck are buff bots? Just second accounts people set up to follow themselves?

Yes buff bots are support classes that buff your main character to be more effective. Classic servers do not remove buffbots, but it severely shortens the range that the buffs remain active for the distance that your main toon is from your bot.

People like classic servers because there was this crappy expansion mythic released that many people did not like called Trials of Atlantis. The classic servers do not have this expansion included so they are nice.

Whatever you do, please do not create a hibernian toon on a classic server. They are way too overpopulated as it is. Albion and Midgard is cooler anyways :)

I would never lower myself to make some hippy elf. Ptew.

I made a midgard savage, now im having a problem finding where to buy h2h weapons ; ;. Shame they wont let you use h2h without weapons like they do in every other game.

A buffbot is a character, usually on a second account, that buffs up other characters but stays behind the lines so it is out of danger of being killed, at which point buffs would drop. On regular servers, the buffs remain in effect no matter how far away the other characters are. Depending on the type of buffs, the buffbot does not even have to take up a space in the group and that's one reason why they are so despised.

On classic servers, characters have to remain within a certain radius of the buffbot or the buffs will drop. This greatly reduces their effectiveness because if you move the buffbot outside the protection of the forts to keep it within range of the group, it can, of course, be discovered and killed.

Buffbots are not the only reason for the classic servers. The Trials of Atlantis expansion introduced "master levels" and "artifacts" into the game. These additions require a great deal of PvE to acquire and have a pronounced effect on RvR. Many players objected to having to spend so much time back in PvE in order to remain competitive in RvR. In order to pacify the RvR lovers, among other reasons, Mythic introduced the classic servers. TOA master levels and artifacts are not implemented on the classic servers and they introduced the changes in buff radius previously described.
