FFXI player seeking new game.. is this Good?Follow

I hear about DAoC alot but never much about it. The thing that kills me about FFXI is that everything revolves around spending eons on making gil, and cranking out lvls to satisfy powercraze, and seeking parties forever and and and... and im sick of it, i just wanna play, not have to pound my brain for ways to make gil and levels and still be far behind everyone else. So tell me what DAoC is like with ffxi. heres some starters:

1) i played morrowind before alot and loved it, is this any close to it in terms of stories and such, id like to talk to npc's and do quests for them and equip dozens of gear with no limits on how it looks. ffxi has a ton of copied styles like all the mobs look the same and all the gear rotates alot between bronze, leather, doublet, tunic, robe and scale. grr

2) is there pvp and can it be turned down if u dont want to be challenged?

3) how does the money work

4) someone please tell me why i should get this game

DAOC doesn't really revolve around a storyline, persay. But basically there are quests you can get and tasks to do, and the leveling craze still holds true...

The best thing imo abuot DAOC is the PvP or the RvR (realm vs realm). If you're not on the PvP server Mordred, you can always avoid PvP. If you're on the co-op server there is no PvP at all besides duels, which can be turned down if issued. Although on a normal server, there are RvR zones where if you come across an enemy from another realm, you will probably fight him whether you really want to or not. In my opinion, RvR is DAOC's endgame. It's the reason for the leveling, the item and gold farming etc.

I played DAoC for a year and have one lvl 50 (max lvl) and a few that got into the 30's.. I quit DAoC about a year ago... I started playing FFXI when it was released for the PS2.. i have 30 white mage and a 31 bard are my oldest...
i cant say anything about morrowind cuz i havent played that.. but there is less copied styles of armor and mobs in DAoC... There is PvP.. one of the best/funnest parts of the game.. yes you can turn it off.. just leave the PvP areas... in the normal areas there is no PvP.. that is unless you join the PvP server where you can be attacked by anyone at anytime after lvl 5.. its kinda crazy...
the money seems easier to come by than in FFXI.. in FFXI you spend as much if not more time trying to farm for money than you do playing.. its not like that in DAoC.. yeah you will need to do some farming and money can get tight but not like FFXI...
some of the biggest differences is that in DAoC you pick a race and a job and thats it... if you want another job you make another character... in DAoC additional characters are free... and with the number of servers it would take some effort to fill up every possible character slot..
in DAoC there are three realms (albion, hibernia and midgard)... these three realms meet in the PvP areas to fight for keeps and relics and such...
all in all i feel like DAoC is a more compelling game... i feel like the quests are better.. if you show up at the right place you can complete it... i feel like in FFXI i know where to go and what to do but still run into problems...
The powercraze exists just as much in DAoC as it does in any MMORPG i've played.. its the name of the game... waiting for parties is different.. first you can solo easier.. but groups make xp better... it seems like you dont have to wait for groups as long as you can in FFXI expecially in the later lvls... but its different... in hibernia you would put your name down for a "fins group" to the list holder and they would send you a tell when you're up while you go solo or craft or somthing.. and usually you could get in in about 1-2 hours... which is long but better than the horror stories i hear about people seeking for days and no invite...
some of this could be wrong because i havent been around DAoC for about a year and alot has changed i'm sure...
I could sit and compare and contrast the two games for a while.. there are alot of differences. like transportation is alot cooler in FFXI.. airships are cool and the chocobos are like the horses in DAoC but you can control the chocobos and you cant control the horse.. but alot of times this is cooler because you can get a ride and go make some dinner while you head off to another area...
The only concern i have is if FFXI was your first MMORPG... if so then this genre may not be for you... but if you do like this genre and want a different style then DAoC is one of the best around... but FFXI is also impressive with the over 500,000 accounts and cross-platform (PC and PS2) and cross world (USA and Japan with europe coming soon) thats all pretty cool... up to you... read around and see what this game is like and if you thing its for you then give it a go...

I got into DAoC about7 or 8 months ago, played for 3 months, then left to go to FFXI.

I had managed to get a Mithra to lvl 30 THF/28 DRK/25 WAR; but I realized that to get my next set of equip to be desireable to a group I'd need to farm for 2-3 days at least...I realized that the game had stopped being fun and was now just work.

After 2 months of FFXI I came back to DAoC. The community is better IMO, probably since not every group requires perfect balance with uber leet (for your lvl) gear for entrance. And if I don't feel like grouping I can solo just fine. There is still farming but it happens at the same time as exping so its not really noticeable anyway. RvR rocks! Nothing like being with 20-30 guildmates and decimating 20-30 players from another realm!

DAoC vs. FFXI:

Pros:
1. Can solo
2. Money isn't as important and easier to get
3. Can group with any char and any gear
4. RvR/PvP works as it should (you can partake or not as you see fit)
5. Big world
6. Many different mobs, not just the same model with a different name
7.Easier to level, especially now with the free level system.
8. Friendlier community
9. More classes
10. More races
11. Can customize clothing/armor with different colors/emblems

Cons:
1. Graphics not as good as FFXI (alot more cartoony)
2. Sound not as good as FFXI (I turned the music off)
3. Fewer quests
4. Less people (can be good or bad depending on you, but MM stands for Massively Multiplayer so...)
5. Macro system underpowered
6. Battle system not as in depth or team oriented (no Skillchains or Magic burst time coordination).
7. Only one class per character
