Anyone know a link or know what i should be buying from the DF Merchants for maximum parts when salvaging.

Long swords yield the most asterite bars for your buck. Some say breastplates, but I believe it's long swords.

breastplates are better by a hair, but the weight of carrying them vs. the weight of longswords make the swords better for utilitarian purposes.
