Why did you join a guild?Follow

Hi folks,

I'm new to DAoC, been playing about 1 month and I'm trying to understand what being in a guild means to most of you.

I played EQ several years where the primary focus of the guild was to advance together by being able to coordinate massive player raids against epic/godly NPC mobs. Sure there were lots of good times and plain 'ol fashioned xp groups from the guild but the main focus was always raiding.

Compared to EQ, DAoC appears to have a lot more guilds on each server but with far fewer members. No offense but it seems like many of the DAoC guilds are formed for no other reason than they thought the name sounded cool...

So what's the deal? Are there a few large elite guilds on each server that are coordinating big RvR attacks? Is it really as uncoordinated as it appears to a new player?

Don't get me wrong. I'm having fun soloing my scout but PvE content here is pretty slim by EQ standards so I'm trying to see if there's something else out there before I hang up my bow and wait for EQ2.

unfortunantly that happens alot. That and DAOC is no where near as snubbish as EQ. Alot of guild will take on a ton of newbies to weed threw them and find the good ones. My guild only takes on maybe 5 to 10 newbs a month to find us new guildies. Also alot of guilds raid together with other guilds. We have alliances.
