Too late to begin?Follow

I was wondering, would it be too late to even bother begin playing DAoC, I love how the Pvp Sounds (I was mad in love with Sullon Zek of EQ) and I heard you get little to no lag while runnin between 100s of players, but Its been out since 2001, and for me to look at EQ now and start playigna gain is just too late, with EQ2 and all, but what about DAoC
Also I heard lots of people quit DAoC when expansion came out, and there are hackers/dupers/exploiters

About how many TOTAL players still play DAoC?
And about how many are on, on the AVERAGE day at any given time of the day -- on a server?

go there for getting the #s on how many players are in DAoC.

its considerably smaller then EQ, but the game is way better in everything but population.

what i sujest to new players is to join one of the larger populated servers for a few reasons.

1. easier to find groups post 20. getting to 20th is a cake walk just like it is in EQ.

2. guilds are 10x more important in DAoC then they are in EQ.

3. end game with high server population will mean you will almost always be able to find a group to RvR with 24/7.

few more things to point out.

1. 7 day free trial. use it and if you like it, then you can pay for the upgrade to all the expansions for the better performance tweeking, and graphics engine. not to mention the expansion zones/classes/races. very worth the $$.

2. there is a complete new FREE expansion in open beta atm called New Frountiers. this is a complete workover on the PvP secation of the game to include better keeps and what not.

if you liked the zek servers in EQ, you are in for a HUGE treat with DAoC. there is no better game out today with better PvP system then what DAoC has to offer.

with the classic and SI graphics engine you will suffer from some lag in the large scale battles, but with the ToA engine and the ability to modify so much more of the system you will have very very little lag if any at all on a nice gaming system.

i can even keep on the effects if i want to with over 300 players on the screen. i normaly turn them off so i can see though them to see who am actualy targeting, and who is beating on me.

I don't know if it's too late to start on a PvP server, because it gets rough when your above 10, you just get smacked around. But if you roll a normal server you can still start now, and theres usually people to help out. RvR is fun, and not too late to get started.

Total players vary, there are I think something like 13 servers and they all range to about a thousand on at any given time through all 3 realms on each. So about 300 people will be online in your realm usually. (these aren't hard numbers, just guesses) Theres a list on the camelot herald. But give it a peek and if you need help or roll on Hib/Igraine let me know or visit our guild site we'll help you get started.
