Strange Technical Issue...Follow

#1 Apr 08 2004 at 7:15 PM Rating: Decent
I've got DAoC/SI/ToA installed. I can apparently play in Albion without an issue. When I go to Caer Gothwaite, however, especially when I attempt to enter Caer Gothwaite itself, the game quits without warning to my desktop.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the only place that this happens to me. Has anyone else ever had this issue, and if so, what did you do to fix the problem?

I appreciate your responses in advance.

All the best.

Are those the only places you crash? And if so, try running into it using only the classic DAoC client, SI and ToA to see if theres any change. If so, you may have a memory issue.

have you ran a full file scan? it is also possible (although the memory issue is a higher probability) that you have corrupted files.

Also might wanna make sure your video card isn't on the "not supported" list. My wife had that same problem, and once she got a new vid card, she was up and running just fine.

I'm running 512 MB of mem, so I'm not sure memory is an issue. Especially since the game runs fine pretty much everywhere else I've been. As soon as I have the scratch to do so, I might invest in a new video card and see what happens.

I'm wondering, however, if a complete uninstallation and reinstallation might fix the issue.

Couldn't hurt, I guess...

First run the full file check. If there are any files corrupted, the scan will fix them. Next, make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. If you have to download and install other drivers, REINSTALL DIRECTX 9 afterward.

If you still have problems, from the character creation screen, go into OPTIONS and switch everything to DAOC classic. If that works, you can go back and let it automatically choose the settings for your card.

Don't ignore the daoc support section at camelotherald.com and you might want to check out the tech tavern message boards at camelotvault.ign.com
