A few simple (or so I think) questions.Follow

Well, I'm thinking about getting DAoC. I'm going to play the demo this coming weekend to try it out. However, I have a few quick questions about some things:

1. At Fileplanet.com, the description says somewhere "Download the full game NOW!," which I believe I did already (just waiting for this coming weekend when I have more time to actually try out the game). Does this mean that you can download the original DAoC just from Fileplanet and not have to go to the store to buy it? Or am I just not understanding something?

2. If I make a character in the demo, can I continue playing with it if and when I get the real game?

3. For those of you that have played the demo, are you limited to just one character, or is just like the regular game where you can have up to 8 on one server? Or does it work some other way?

4. About billing: I've never played an MMORPG before. Say I sign up for my account and all, and after that 30-day trial period is up and I have to pay 12.95 a month like normal. Say I play it for two months (one month as the free trial) and so my total would be 12.95 at this point and all. What if I played for 25 more days and then suddenly didn't play anymore for like 5 months? Do I HAVE to cancel my account (which I assume erases the account and all the characters on it, but someone tell me if I'm wrong, please) for them to not keep billing me, or if I just don't play during a month, will they not charge me for it?

I'll answer these questions as best as i can. My information is coming from reading similar posts.

1. I believe that you must purchase the game from the store, after your trial has expired.

2. You can continue to playing the character with the new version, you just need to reup your account when your trial expires. I believe you have to sign up for an account when you start playing the trial version, you just wont be charged until your trial expires.

3. If you dont want to play any more you have to cancel your account, or you will be charged automatically for the next month. Easy to do just log in and follow the instructions under account. Ive done it at least 5 times. If you cancel your subscription, your characters are still available - except in rare cases like mine where some of my characters where erased on one of my accounts. Dont know why.

Bah this is wrong. You don't need to purchase anything from the store after trial. You will simply begin your subsription if you do not cancel. Your character and account stay exactly the same. You can create as many characters as you like during the demo. I created 3 on same server. The DL includes original + housing expansion which means no Shrouded Isles or Trials of Atlantis. You will have to buy on your own if you want them.

Err sorry, one more question. On the Knowledgebase at Camelotherald.com, it says, "You will not be charged until after your free 30 day trail has expired. This 30 day period starts the day you install the game and set up an account."

Does this mean just when you enter your information and all (name, address, cd-key, etc) (before you enter your credit card information), or is it after you've actually enter the credit card stuff? Thanks again guys for any help.

If you're getting a "free" download, you will not get a 30 day free trial, but a 7-day free trial. You are billed in advance of the subscription period (day 8) and there are no refunds for cancellations.

The trial is the same as the regular game, with no limitations. When you go from trial to pay, you're using the same account and keep the same characters.

If you decide to cancel your account, neither the account nor characters disappear. You can reactivate your account at any time and all your characters will still be there. Be aware that inactive accounts are only guaranteed for 30 days, but most of the major games have never done an inactive character purge.
