Never use a z to replace an s in any word.

Capitalize the first word of each and every sentence (I realize for some it is such a chore to hold down the Shift key for...one second).

Gil is both singular, and plural. There is no such thing as "gils." Would you say, "I hit the deers..."?

"L337" includes two 3s and a 7. This is not a word, in any language. Whoever came up with "l337 talk" in the first place should not only be shot, but cremated so that his or her ignorant DNA is never again duplicated. Also, anyone who uses this form of communication should be buried on top of said person's ashes.

Keep an eye out for dangling participles and improper use of gerunds.

And at the risk of having someone think that I'm chasing vxvenom around the forums and calling him/her out or something here... actually, it's a matter of stylistic preference NOW. This is an extremely recent development, and only in less formal forms of writing. If one were writing a paper using most official style guidelines, for instance, two spaces after a period would still be correct. In the last five years or so, however, this standard has dropped in most casual writing, much to my chagrin, as it's ingrained in me.
Yep. I'm saddled with the rules of grammar and usage beat into me during my tenure as Editor of my Law Review. It's tough for an old fogy like me to keep up with the new-fangled rules. I’ll always use two spaces after a period.

The second is saying you would like to thank your parents whom are Ayn Rand and God.

Oh, here's one. Incorrect usage of whom; here it should be "who." "Whom" is used when it is the direct object of a preposition; you are also missing a comma in this sentence, because everything after parents is a clause and unnecessary, thus "whom" should really be "who." ^^

Edited: fixed a very silly typo!

By proposition, of course you meant preposition, correct?

Eep, dangling participles are not work safe. Please keep them covered up when around small children or aggressive dogs.

Heh, yeah. Object of a proposition is something totally different. That's what I get for not scanning over my post before hitting that pesky button!

Finishing 8th grade might be a start for some people.

ummmmm.....only to remember you all....there are some foreigners playing this game, mostly japanese people, but too from other nations. Soon the european version will be launched...

Therefore, don't assume that everyone have english as native language.

By the way, I am from Brazil and my native language is portuguese and I completed the 8th grade long time ago. But I am sure that I have not a perfect english grammar....while I have a very good PORTUGUESE grammar.

To end, I consider your comment offensive and disrespectfull.

I believe he was referring to English people. We understand that if your native language isn't English, you're going to have trouble.

But, see, you still type better then most English 8th graders.

Oh, and one other thing:

Always remember to not split your infinitives.

While I certainly understand your point here, I believe the group more in question here are those who DO speak English as a first language and yet write it like a three year old.

As my addition to this thread, I'd like to give a brief rundown of something that is likely to come up after the European launch.

Key differences between American English and European English (The Queen's English)

1) Vowels.

We English use vowels in our words far more than Americans. Particularly the letter 'u'. For example:

American: Honor
English: Honour

American: Favorite
English: Favourite

These are not typos, on either count. Merely an American variant of the base language.

2) Slang.

No doubt American gamers will experience a vast amount of new slang terms when the Europeans come in en masse. A brief list (English slang only, since I don't speak any other well enough for an accurate representation). Starting with the most obvious...

*** = Cigarrette. A well known one, if someone says they are "going for a ***", this is not any sort of sexual reference. They're just having a smoke break.

Cheers = Thanks! This one is also pretty well known. Often used to express gratitude. Frequently used with the following:

Mate = Friend. As mentioned above, often seen as "Cheers, mate!" This word is one of the most commonly used words in the UK, and as such will be seen a lot in the game soon.

Bloke = Man.

Bird = Woman.

******** = Really bad. (*Samanosuke is defeated by Goblin Smithy* "Oh, **************** Also used to mean something is false ("I just killed that Giant by myself for 300 xp!" "That's a load of ********* mate.") However, the meaning changes in the following context:

The dog's ******** = Really good. For example, "This party is the dog's **************** A variation of this phrase is:

The mutt's nuts = See above.

Football = Soccer. What Americans call football, we refer to as "American Football". I suggest avoiding any discussion of this with the English during any form of international tournament. Especially if we lost. Which we invariably do.

Jelly = Jello. What you know as Jelly, we refer to as Jam.

I leave work in 5 minutes and that's all I have time for now. Most of these are fairly well known anyway, but it never gets to have a list ^-^

So nice to see an intelligent thread like this....congratulations everyone!
