Special New Years Gift- Monkeys!!!Follow

You can get rewards by talking to the five monkeys that are wandering aroung the newbie areas.

Follow the Papa Monkey and trade food with it, you will get a random enhancement such as enthunder or blaze spikes.

This effect wears off very quickly, maybe if you kill a monster while under the effect you can get something.

There is more to this then just trading food and getting an enhancement for a few minutes.

But the monkeys are real, search your newbie areas around the cities and bring lots food to test with.

anyone tested the rest of hte monkeys?

is there a banana type item in the game? may be they will like it ;)

Um... I'm a little cannon shy after the treant troubles. could someone post to this thread if the actually get a fun or useful reward? Getting enthunder or a fishing bonus is not worth the gil to buy/cook the food and then chase the monkey down. (And pretty useless to me)

But, if someone comes across (and proves) a fun treat like a monkey hat or something, please let me know.

Well, after 4kgil worth of grub, I haven't had much luck.

Only Papa Monkey will accept trades and he'll accept anything it seems. I'm almost certain now that everything but "meals" will result in a temporary buff, which include Shell, Protect, Shock spikes and Enthunder.

Meal items will sometimes result in a "gift" which is a Rare/Ex letter (ie, only one and it's no drop) which grants "Fishing Imagery".

If you try to receive another gift when you already have one, you'll recieve the msg indicating you can only have one of those.

This leaves me with 2 ideas :

1- There are real gifts, but they are rare and you'll be lucky if you get one

or

2- You have to fish for your gift while having the effect of Fishing Imagery

If anyone has some useful info, please post it here =). The monkeys are supposed to be around till the 7th of January, so there's plenty of time to "solve" this event =)

I just saw the monkeys in West Sarta!
I gave a rabbit hide to papa and he gave me a New Year's Gift and put shock spikes on me.

My guess is that this gift may turn into something later tonight...i dunno. This gift must have some purpose.

Also about the fishing thing, i think he gives a random blessing so I really don't think you need to fish up your prize.

If any of you guys get anything besides a New Years Gift please post it :)

The monkeys are not just in newbie areas... there are some in Sauromugue Champaign also

not just in newbie zones, i saw them in valkhurm dunes also.

hmm is there 1 in qufim? or near jueno? i wanna see some monkeys. maybe the bards could tame them and have a killer monkey army =) thatd be nice...

Quick theory. I haven't tried this out, but maybe the rarer the item you give him, the better the prize. Someone shoudl try trading him some fireworks.

I gave the papa monkey in W. Saruta a acorn cookie, and he told me: "This is the year of the monkey." "It will be a good year for you". Or something similar to that. No enhancements though.

Not too sure about it, but from reading the thread I'd say that giving him better stuff gets you better stuff in return, nothing less, nothing more.. But who knows ;)
