Japanese support petitionFollow

#1 Dec 31 2003 at 5:13 AM Rating: Decent
I am writing this trying to get everyone that wants Japanese character support in game to write square and request it. There is no reason that we do not have this support if our computers allow it and it would make our playing exp more enjoyable with Japanese groups. So if you want the capability please do 2 things. Enter your name on this thread saying you want Japanese support. I will notify playonline of this petition in a week or two if there is enough people. Also please email them through game support. Hopefully if they get flooded with it they will open their eyes and do something.

*sound of crickets chirping*

I'd like to see it too. Will never happen though. Hell too many people can't even use auto translate, or skillchains, let alone asking them to fumble around with a Japanese text input menu.

It has a very narrow audience. Small percentage of us who can actually type in Japanese. I wouldnt use it. Im better off using the translator instead of fumbling for hours trying to put togther understandle Japanese character sentence.

If you know how to type in Japanese then you would know that it is very easy. This is not meant to be used by people that are not familiar with the language and is by no means meant to replace the translator. It is for those that can speak the language. It simply should allow those who already have a Japanese IME installed on their computer to be able to use it in game. The IME is available in all programs except this game. There is no reason for it, especially for a program where there is reason for it. If you are not familiar with the language or typing in it on a computer then this petition is not aimed at you. For those of you who know what Im talking about, you know who you are.

Thats fine and dandy. But my point is that I dont think Square will think its worth the effort. But knock yourself out. Wish you luck.

I believe the very worst thing you can do is encourage people to spam Square-Enix. Especially through the support channels. Not only would it be extremely rude - it also gives them an idea that you don't really know what you're doing, and you're just competing to see who can shout the loudest.
Personally, I will not take part in that. Even though I do approve of the cause.

Instead, organize an actual petition. Ask for signatures here. Once you have a reasonable amount, send one, well-worded e-mail with a link to the petition page. They might not add it anyway, but at least you did it in the most calm, professional manner available to you.

I'm not big into web petitions in general, so I don't know where to find all the right tools, but a quick search on Google yielded this page: www.ipetitions.com. Seems decent. Free, as far as I could tell.

Make an actual petition, post a link, and I'll definitely sign.

I hate roomaji. The Japanese IME makes it like 10 times easier to communicate in japanese. fills in the kanji and everything for you. It's easy peasy. I think that I've already signed an actual online petition for Japanese input support in FF11 - North America already somewhere...

That's not for typing in Japanese. It's for indicating whether or not you speak Japanese. A feature which is semi-useless without a Japanese input option, by the way, considering how many **** don't understand Romanji.
