I had purchased a new hp laptop to play EverQuest it is an Intel quad core i7. The issue I am having EQ tends to make it run hot. It is Intel I7 4th generation quad core with intergrated graphics Intel HD 4600. I am considering returning it and either downgrading to a dual core i7 or getting I7 5th generation which I hear use less power and run cooler. I am so glad I did not purchase a laptop with a dedicated graphics card because of an intergrated graphics card is running that hot I could not imagine what a dedicated graphics card in a laptop what it would do. I have tried everything I can think of to make it run cool I have it on a $30 chill pad I have tried running it off the battery only I have put on balance and low performance it still runs hot. I do not understand how a 15 year old program app or game can make it a new modern day laptop run so hot I do not box I play one tooth at a time so I do not know what is making it run hot I've removed all the bloatware from the laptop.

I have an old laptop and you could cook on it when EQ is running. I run it on a wooden board pulled from an old desk with spacers making sure I have at least half an inch clearance. Then I run a small fan on high speed aimed at the keyboard. I seems to do the trick for me.

Try running WinEQ http://lavishsoft.com/ . Has EQplaynice intergrated with it and will force EQ to not be such a hog. I don't really know how it works, I fix airplanes with a hammer. I read that EQ "now" runs just as well without WinEQ, but it absolutely ran better for me on my laptop after switching to WinEQ.
