eqtraders website used to be really good for guides and recipes and such.

Search the wiki here at zam of course.

There is skill up "freebies" in Crescent Reach and Abyssmal Sea. There is also the trophy quests, which at one point many were recommending that you do them at lower skill level in the trade (not sure if that is still the case).

I can't say much more, having avoided tradeskills like a plague for many expac cycles.

You can most everything on the Cultural vendors in PoK or Crescent Reach. In PoK, they are located outside of the library at the entrance, near the Priest of Discord, and wedding supply vendors, and a few other NPCs. They should be on the Find (Ctrl+F) menu, but you'll probably want to go up the ramps first to get a good pathing to them.

Some of the newest stuff, you may need to go to the expansions to buy the books, but upto HoT (level 90) stuff, I believe is now all on the previously mentioned vendors. The patterns are now available on merchants as well, instead of having to redo the quest for the recipe book, that you used to make copies of the patterns from.

See https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Cultural_Armor for a cheat sheet guide to recipes and figuring out names and stuff. You'll probably want to start by looking up individual recipes until you get the idea down, and realize how to read the cheat sheet correctly.

The post at https://forums.station.sony.com/eq/index.php?threads/lvl-10-drakkin-quest-armor.5172/#post-63981 covers most of the how to in words for a beginner, but you may still have to do some research, as it's kind of condensed down.

Hope this helps some,

Yther Ore.

Agreeing with Snailish yet again, I highly recommend the two step starter, take the class for your tradeskill at Cresecent Reach and then immediately get the tests from the little Halfling lady in Freeport Newbie yard. The beginner test typically is doable from the merchants (maybe one exception per test), while the more advance tests require you to go gather things from the zones. Once you get the trophy it upgrades by itself as you level.

I had fun with tradeskills up to about 175, but then the effort took too much from the rest of the game, and I gave up. Now I repeat that old adage floating around Alla "Friends don't let friends do tradeskills." I am sure someone knows whom to give credit to for that one, sadly I have forgotten. Uh, what's my name again?? Oh, yeah, thanks.

On the other hand, some quests and goals require tradeskills, so maybe I should just shut up about it.

good hunting all
