I do not think so, I know so. I pay for my cable bill, eq account and no one I do not care who it is, even if it was the president of soe or not. I have a level 80 ranger with 1500 plus aa. Oh you need to power level, it is excepted of you, you have to, bull. I do not believe in power leveling, period, no one is going to force me to, I can be offered one billion platinum an hour. Someone was garcious enough to give me her old account, I am not her, I will be changing the toons name and will not be forced into it like it or not.

Rant over

Should not be an issue. Just ignore the trolls.
People have sometimes asked for that when I am on my SK and if they are too boldfaced or rude I answer them accordingly. For strangers, I either don't do it at all or do it for free if bored and in the mood.. Just my two cents.

This is your first mistake. When someone is trying to get you to do something you don't want to do, you never ever say "I will not do it", you say "I will gladly do it" and then you do such a horrific job of doing it that no one ever wants you to do it again. Works like a charm.

I don't really get this thread, there's nothing really wrong with power leveling, people who do it just want to get to the latest content faster. I don't really have time for it, so I just stay silver. I'm happy being able to play the content from the days where I quit for free. Someone offered to powerlevel my warrior a while ago, and I would've loved that since leveling a warrior is kinda dull, but sadly he just wanted me to join his guild to tank stuff, which I would've been fine with if I didn't have to buy the latest expansion and pay for gold status.

I just don't have time to play the endgame with college and my job.

You just play however you like.

The point of this thread is to show I will not be forced to power level anyone: whether it be by someone I know, a person I meet on eq, or even the guild leader. I do not believe in power leveling. I am one of those people who are very few, who enjoy the content of the game, learning, knowing how to play your toon correctly, properly and efficiently. I believe power leveling takes away from that, I am sorry but if I need to or have to invest the time grinding levels, alternate abilities, and gear then so should anyone else that plays eq. I will help and assist people but do not do for same thing in real life I have empathy for people who might be homeless. I do not have the funds, resources to feed them, clothe them or house them. I feel if I can go to a food pantry, various churches and other places to get assistance so can they. I will tell you, show you where, how and when it is done but the rest is on you.

calm down man, you're right, no one can make you do anything, but I don't think anyone here would be as boldfaced or ignorant as to try and force you to powerlevel their characters. Your server may have people who act in such a way, just make quick use of the /ignore feature.

Also on the subject of powerleveling - its one thing to powerlevel a few levels, thats fine, but I think its extremely unwise to expect a group if you went from 1 to 100 on powerleveling alone and never played the class before, you'd be borderline useless to a group (since you'd have littler knowledge of your class and well it sounds silly you DO need to practice/familiarize yourself with a class to be useful with it to any degree!)

This is a fallacy.

I have played every character and been to every zone over 15 years. I played every xpac as it was current. So now I take my 100 Mage and power level new characters to 80 in a few hours. I then power level 500 AA on HoT kill tasks. I then /duel myself in Arena to build skill ups.

This does mean I do not know how to play these classes. It means I have done it the hard way already and now have the ability to take short cuts because of my years of hard work and experience.

I guess I'm confused on how someone ASKING you to PL, is you being FORCED to PL. Your mama didn't teach you to say no? And must be some desperate people to ask a lvl 80 to PL

Anyone who caves in and gives in to someone "forcing" you to level.. in my opinion, makes you appear weak. I have been told over the years to get to max level. All I did was say no. If they appeared to badger me, I would tell them where to kiss and lick it. I don't pay my subscription to make others happy. I pay it to make ME happy.

Learn to say no, or quit your b*tching. Seriously.

If it is that you are in a guild where the leader and other officers are forcing you to pl others and do other activities that you do not enjoy. It is probably best to look for another guild more to your playstyle both socially and content wise. People do it all the time, until they find the right guild where they are comfortable with the people, social aspects, inclusiveness and last but not least the content they are doing.

Powerlevelling is neccesary for the survival of the game imo. For example, new players coming up to fill the ranks of veterans that retire..and there always are people leaving, while the sub 80 zones are empty so a returning low level character is all alone at those levels. If they are not hooked up in a guild when they return many end up leaving out of frustration as they hit harder content. Besides... Like Reyla said, I now powerlevel all my alts at certain points and I consider that I have earned that on the back of thousands of hours on my main and top trio of alts.

To me its a matter of powerlevelling with not enough group and solo playtime relative to it, for the player to learn the nuances, AA's and other abilities, discs, spells,ui set up and tactics of the characters class. That takes time before he groups with higher or more experienced players..otherwise the player might make a "donkey" of himself and get people killed or worse yet get a bad reputation if it happens too often..Resulting in him finding it hard to get groups...in guild and all.

If I felt the way you did because of an in guild scenario. I'd definitely look for another guild. There are many...each with its own feel, ambition, social and leadership style.

Been playing over 8 years....never lapsed and I have learned that for one to remain consistently active in EQ for any length of time, they must enjoy what they are doing in game..and thats what I do. But it wasn't like that at first for me, I learned that over the years.

Good luck and enjoy.. Smiley: nod
