So Many New Things!Follow

#1 Jan 06 2013 at 2:28 PM Rating: Decent
Returning player. Lvl 70 Rogue. Trying to figure out a lot of stuff. But so much is new!

What does it mean to altune an item to your character?
What are hotzones?
What are glyphs?
What are auras?
What are tasks and how are they different than quests?
My gear is 7 years old, and relatively worthless now. What is the best way to regear?
Where should I be looking for exp at lvl 70?

More questions to come...

Welcome back,

Attunable items and gear are tradeable (and often sold in the bazaar) but become no trade once equipped.

Hotzones are zones with increased xp rates .They are changed from time to time usually every year or so..

Glyphs are one time buffs that cost AA's (listed under "special" tab in AA window-in game). These are rarely used unless raiding certain content or if your character is at or near max aas.

Auras are effects (like buffs or bard songs) that melee classes like Warriors or Berserkers and some castors get. They usually effect players in group once within a certain radius of the character creating the aura..

If by tasks you mean solo tasks vs group missions..Solotasks can be requested by a single player but sometimes still require a group to realistically hope to complete. Most mission/group type quests require 3 players in group to get from the questgiver.

At 70 buy the "Defiant gear" for your level (Elegant defiant) and level till 80 where plenty major improvements in gear open up...Notably "Abstruse" lvl 80-85 gear (should be cheap in bazaar nowadays).

AT lvl 70, there are many choices but if you want a pick up group, stick to the hotzones and send /ooc lfg ..Sunderrock is still good xp at 70 so is Vergalid Mines.Dragonscale Hills is another popular spot but there are many more options available at that level.

Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks for the good info!

Also, what are shrouds, and how do they work?

When I log on, it tells me that I own 17 out of 19 expansions, but the last expansion I remember buying was OoW. Can anyone explain that?

Where is a "Parcels" Merchant?

What is Tribute and how does it work? Something to do with handing in old items for rewards?

Since there is a free to play option now, all but the last two expansions are free (not VoA or RoF). So, by default, you have 17 of 19 expansions.

Hello,

Shrouds are a means to temporarily lower or raise your characters level (while changing your character from its original class) for certain content but I heard it was bugged recently and some were stuck in their shrouded mode...I am not sure if it was fixed as yet. This process is started by hailing any shroudkeeper.

Some people used to shroud before logging to save their pet complete with buffs and pet toys. But a patch made this practice redundant as pets no longer die when logging..Even if not suspended when you log off...and whether or not you have the relevant pet suspension AAs, they still are there when you log back in.

The parcel merchant in POK is near the small bank, his name is : Caden Zharik

Tribute is a means of turning in items and coin to gain tribute points which you use to purchase in game beneficial effects from a Tribute Master of your characters relevant race.
Some items have a lot more tribute points than others. There is more to this system but as I do not actively use it, I do not have enough info to make a better assessment for you. It is used by some players and from what I've heard and read, most that use it believe in the system as worth the investment..

Hope this helps... Good luck.

Have your read, and then re read the thread here for new and returning players? You can also check out the wiki pages for some information. Of course you should continue to ask questions here. Oh and read the "Did you know thread" that keeps getting bumped.
