Some tradeskill pricing needs major revampFollow

I like EQ. I like the content and the play. I prefer a fair market system. I like tradeskills. I like fair market tradeskills. EQ has niether.

Make poison is not fair, brewing is somewhat fair, pottery is ok, idk about smithing but it seems uncommonly cruel and time-consuming, making jewelry is skewed (one might say screwed). Make spells is totally messed up. Make a spell called Moonfire (druid level 60 spell) at a cost of nearly 300 plat OR buy it from the pok vendor for 141 plat.

The other mistake and YAOBB (yet another obvious boo-boo) is economy. Is it just me or have others noticed that if you don't run a bazaar toon or spend some serious time farming crap, no matter where you hunt, you're going to lose money as you level. It's not possible to get to 95 w/o buying plat or station cash.

Meanwhilie, there are many many online games that do not charge a monthly fee and have a substantial market like station cash that makes their dime.

I quit both subscriptions yesterday due to these two serious (mho) errors in SoE judgement.

So what's wrong with using the bazaar to buy and sell to afford your stuff? No idea why that would be a factor in your decision to quit, nor do I understand why one small aspect of the game would also make you quit. So the crafting prices aren't to your liking, do something else?

You like "EQ... the content and the play." Yet you quit over TS gripes?!

You can level to 95 without having to acquire any plat. What do you NEED to have plat for? You can pharm for gear and easily raise enough plat just from selling loot TO VENDORS to buy "necessities" like food, drink, spells and tomes as well as some "luxuries" like mercs and potions. I know quite a few players who have done it just this way. Altho setting up a trader to get a better price for drops is a sound strategy, some of these same players don't want to be bothered. Yet none of them buy plat nor do they even ask to borrow from me. Some get by when they're a little short just buying bags of plat with their Legacy Tokens. (Doesn't work with silver accounts, though, but them's da breaks.)

Tradeskills is an (overly) complex aspect of EQ, I agree, and I'm sure that some of it isn't tuned right. Spell research is a good example, for sure. But are TS deficiencies worth quitting a game you enjoy over?

Remember when they first changed all selling prices, way back when, at NPC vendors, players where using MQ2 and running toons afk with macros. A toon was able to go to a vendor buy the stuff to make a crafted item, Make the item, run back to vendor and resell for a profit. All AFK..... This happen quite a while back and when new items are introduced SoE makes sure to keep this practice. And I understand why. So fight with your prices in the Fair Market Bazaar. There is plenty of room always for competition. My Bazaar Trader Armourcarr does very well crafting just simple needed stuff. If there is a demand of a specialty item I can see someone making a lot of Plat.
