exp bonus/penalty questionFollow

I recall long ago they used to penalize or give bonus exp depending on what race/class you picked? I had heard that was all gone but I am having my doubts. I have been boxing for awhile now a necro/rogue/warrior. The necro and rogue I rolled the same day and they have never done anything without being grouped together. Have done the same quests etc.

I always noticed the rogue seemed to stay slightly ahead of the necro. Well I had them both dinged lvl 68 the other day at the same time by having the rogue earn some AA. When they were both 68 I put them both on 0% AA and nobody is getting group leadership exp. When the rogue hit lvl 69 the Necro was still 3/4th of a yellow behind.

The rogue is a Human, the necro is a Gnome. Just wondering where the exp is going here? I have heard rumors that the pet can take exp from a necro but that doesn't make any sense as the pet is part of what makes a necro a necro? The other explanation is the Human gets a exp bonus?

In any case I don't see why in this point of the game any race/class should get any bonus/penalty? I mean by lvl 40 everybody should have stats maxed and some form of nightvision and that was really the only thing that ever seperated any race if im not mistaken? I guess there is Bash for the melee if your a large race.

They only removed the penalties not the bonuses (at least for sure the racial ones). It's not alot either, as Group Leadership exp (20%) is way more dramatic a difference than the racial differences.

EDIT: And there were/are many more racial bonuses, but none of them are huge by today's standards, such no frontal stun on Ogres, or +1 regen on Trolls and Iksar. I guess innate racial Forage skill is still pretty nice, and racial Sneak (or is it Hide, or are both sometimes racial?) is sometimes useful.

I'll give this a try...

Once upon a time:
-trolls and Iksars got a racial xp penalty due to their innate regens (that was the balance argument)
-hybrid classes got an XP penalty
-halflings got a small xp boost to regular xp (which was actually intended for humans in the lore, but never corrected).

Somewhere along the line...
-racial penalties were removed but the halfing bonus remains.
-hybrid classes penalty wasn't removed directly... instead the calculations of xp on a kill for hybrids has some bizarre mod on it. The math looks weird but it all works out... is my understanding.
-rogues and warriors picked up a class xp bonus of some sort.

What is correct and what is true?

A mad boxer could easily roll:
3 warriors: halfling, Iksar and wood elf, a halfling ranger, drakkin ranger and a non-halfling caster.

I'm pretty sure they won't all ding level 10 at the same time in the tutorial even if they are boxed together from the moment Arias puts them into Gloomingdeep proper (I wouldn't be surprised if they spawned into 2nd stage of tutorial with differing xp totals...).

I do seem to call something about rogues and warriors getting xp boost. I would say that is what is happening. I took advantage of the triple cash today and bought the rogue and necro both 25% exp potions and grinded away in sunderrock today. The rogue is now 3 kills into 70. The necro is just under a yellow and a half behind. in exp :/

I think there are definitely minor differences. I've seen it when Ive rolled a pair of toons just for fun and levelled them together.

Bear in mind you need to factor in other variables, like death, rezzed or unrezzed. One toon dies a few more times than the other, even if he gets 96% rezzes, his level will start to fall behind.

That is actually a factor I have looked at. The rogue has died several times with 90% merc rezzes and still remains ahead of the necro. I finally got them to 70 and plan to grind them out some AA points.

The rogue has a 5 percent exp bonus. Halflings have 5 as well. That is why my rogue was a halfling. He was fun to play but now he has been sitting at 60. I use him for gathering ground spawns and killing greys for tradeskill items.
