I am a returning silver player and I think I might settle down and play one of my old 2 box combinations - my L60 mage and cleric. Bazaar geared for the most part, circa 2008.

I gather mercs count toward the group instance numbers and therefore I can get into GoD, DoN, DoDh group content as a 2 box. I really have no clue if once I’m in these missions I actually have the capability to complete them – no real pulling, no slowing, little crowd control.

Can someone help me out with suggested levels for taking this stuff on with cleric/mage and a couple of App5 mercs?

At 70+ I think I would try my hand at the Jonas Dagmire quest in TBS.

If I could get any suggestions for other themed/progression content L60 to 75ish? Basically I am looking to spice up my play a little rather than stick to my same old zones and grind exp.

As far as I'm aware, mercs do not count towards group numbers. It is possible, however, to just invite anyone who is of the appropriate level to join the group just so you can request the task. I may be wrong on this, though.

I know that for LDON, they do count towards your group. For other, I am not sure.

They count for most of those missions, although I'm not positive for GoD, and certain DoDh missions they don't count and not even allowed (the shrouded spell arc missions in particular). Most non-raid GoD though that I can think of, only require 1 person, and mercs are allowed in the non-raid instances.

The following thread gives some good ideas, specifically for a Mag: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1319126081222413981

Lots of good aug quests in TSS zones: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1229797904204144347#3

Thanks all - and those long posts you linked to Yther, are especially helpful.

I don't know if anyone here can answer my question about appropriate level to tackle DoN or the others (to the extent mercs do indeed work to let me in) but I guess it doesn't hurt to go test it for myself.

Most DoD missions should be just fine. I believe only some of the Werewolf Mask tasks are shrouded. You should be able to request the spell arc missions as long as your average level is within 10 levels and you do them in order (each arc respectively).

I am not sure about DoN missions, but most of the progression is solo tasks anyways. And if mercs don't count for things like Gimblax, you should really have no problem finding someone to run these with you, as the progression rewards are still highly valued.

I'd just try em out. At the earliest upper 40s or low 50s you can start the solo DoN stuff. Most of the DoDh stuff has a minimum level around 60 or 65 (for the requesting person, think can taskadd lower levels but need to be within 15-level span limit), but some of it may have lower requirements, or they may have adjusted them in the past several years. I generally don't do them till 65-70 when the spells / tomes will be useful and many could be done molo (solo with a merc) + another toon just in the task but not helping.

GoD stuff depends. It's all pretty tough for the level it was designed for 65 or lower, but most group stuff is doable molo at 65 now with defiant gear. The Sewer missions seemed alot easier now-a-days, think I even soloed them quite a bit before mercs around 65 (or maybe that was 70 and why it was alot easier). It's been so long I can't remember for sure on the solo part. I definitely molo'd the Sewers alot on a War + Clr merc at 65 or earlier (probably around 60, as there's alot better places 65+), and wasn't terribly hard other than some of the named.
