Toughness of mobs by expansionFollow

Is there general advice on where to go for fast kills from like level 30 till 65-70 based on just the basics of each expansion?

For instance, I took my berserker to the Great Divide because it was a hotzone, and the time it took me to kill single blue, white, yellow con mobs was insane compared to other areas. So I went to lower guk and the kills seemed much faster (though perhaps that was because I just absolutely love that zone because of nostalgia).

As of 2012, are there still some rules of thumb to expect from expansions? Ea, in Velious, resists and HP are much higher than in Kunark etc (this example may be wrong, I just hate the great divide for some odd reason, probably because I only went there regularly with bard speed and levitate in the past)?

Sorry if this is an annoying newb question. Been gone for so long that my questions probably sound pretty stupid. It seems like the only thing I can remember from EQ when I played it is "Aradune is stinky" from the Qeynos sewers, yet I don't even know if that's true.

When comparing mobs of the same level, (in general) mobs from an earlier expansion tend to be easier to kill.

I always thought the Gates of Discord and Omens of War mobs were hard for their level. Lower Guk IMO is the best place to go in the late 30's to almost 50 IMO because they die so much easier than anything else that lvl. I never did hunt much in Great Divide but I remember the wurms were always kinda hard for their lvl. It makes sense though that a giant dragon like creature would be harder to kill than a wolf.

I dunno about 30, but at a 35 or 40 you should be leveling in city of mist with a tank mercenary

Luclin mobs seemed to have a ton of hp, though less damage output, when I tried them. I've leveled mainly in the new hotzones, along with PoP zones.

Hi,
This is the perfect forum on ZAM-EQ for asking .

At around lvl 30, I sometimes still carry my alts to "The Overthere", hard side at Skyfire Mountains zl at the ramp. The xp per kill is not the best ive seen but its above average, the mobs never run out and mobs continuously pass in easy pulling range of the ramp. Their hps are not that high (I'd estimate 2/3rds the HPs of a Blightfire Moors mob of similar con and they hit a tad softer). The mobs turn dark blue at around lvl 34 and the xp rate is good till around 37-38.

At 37 you could then go to Stone Hive (off Blightfire moors) which is good xp till 41 ish, Goru Kar Mesa wolves near zi till you can handle the snakes which have way less hps than the Drogmor(sp)-Giants.
At 45 Blackfeather Roost is outstanding xp till around 55+ even when not a hotzone but the HP's and damage of the mobs scales up a bit over Goru. Some named have much more hps than the trash.

Once your character has the "defiant" gear for your level (or better) you could effectively solo in B.Roost and subsequent TSS zones, many of which are hotzones atm.

From there I'd head to the hotzones Steepes at 60 and Sunderrock Springs at 65 or earlier if you get bored of the Steepes (they are both currently hotzones and the xp is very good atm).In Sunderrock the Seething Drakes are just south of Wizard port in and are plentyful, have reasonably low hps ,good loot and are around lvl64-67 mobs iirc.

Outdoor zones for the 30-50 grind Kunark will be best bang for buck.

Lower guk is indoor (dungeon xp mod) so as long as you can control/handle adds it is better.

City of Mist is Kunark era with (to my recall) an XP mod. Any Kunark dungeon you can handle will be better xp.

Velious is tougher as the mobs are just that much stronger. For some kiters/root rotters there is some sweet camps especially 50-60.

Luclin is generally tougher as well, but the indoor zones (like Echo Caverns) have great xp if you can handle them.

PoP tiers up and can be very solid xp. Expacs past that are much less efficient for a solo person unless the class solos well (i.e., necros can do really well in the Omens of War zone Nobles Causeway kiting).

The exception is The Serpent's Spine expansion... it's a throwback to original-velious in much of its design. The xp seems high there (including outdoor zones) even when not hotzoned (as most of it currently is). They also "weak than normal" many mobs in many of the zones (for example the spiders in goru'kar mesa con higher than they are levelwise in power).

Kill it all and see what works fastest (if speed is what you want) for your set-up/playstyle.
