Return to game, Oh my. Follow

So after almost a year I finally logged back into my main account, mainly to try and see why Sony had charged two amounts on my credit card. No hot keys, no tool bars, OH hell. I don't want to spend an hour or four resetting them on my toons. But wait!
There is a new pop up box, it shows ini files and offers a copy button. Can anyone tells me what it does? I just may leave for good if I really have to reset stuff, or just play 2 toons.

Thanks.

Use the /copylayout command and window (should be what pops up automatically). Select a toon / server file, check all 3 checkboxes, and hit copy layout. It should fix everything, unless you used more than two chat windows. If you did use more than 2, then you'll have to create the additional ones (best to do this before copying the layout) manually.

The /copylayout with all 3 boxes checked will get most everything except proper chat window filtering, which doesn't take too long to do manually, but you can also /camp all the way out of game after copying the layout, then edit the same toon / server UI INI file (i.e. UI_toon_server.INI) and find the [ChatManager] section and copy it, then paste it to the destination toon's UI INI file. This will automatically make the destination toon have the same chat window filtering and setup as the original without having to manually do it.

EDIT: Forgot, I don't think spell sets get copied either, and will have to do those manually.

Hope this makes it easier to get up and running right away.

Yther's got it. The copy layout feature has totally motivated me to login more of my old characters (to do little with them) as I keep setting them to match my necro's window/key setup.

I love this feature.

I used to reroll low alts with the same name to get the same benefit. Worked well until I would decide to keep a character going past 10-50 instead of deleting, that's how much I dislike setting up windows.

I was hoping that was the situation. I also had backup copies of my ini files with some hotkey sets on them as well that I was going to try and copy into game files.

Well the copy button did not restore hot keys or socials.
Was on Courtin and could not see the name in the box, went onto the druid Muir and saw courtins name but not his?

when you click copy layout, there are 3 buttons

you need to tick each one you want, including hotbars/socials

If you got them backed up as you said, you could rename them to a deleted server like toon_Druzzil.INI and UI_toon_Druzzil.INI when copying them so they don't overwrite any, and they'll show up on the copy layout window list.

And Like Inida said, make sure to check all 3 boxes.

And another thing I just remembered, Audio Triggers aren't copied. You'll have to do those manually if the server or toon name is different on the one you copied. They should still be there in the Audio Trigger window list, if the server wasn't merged in the last set to a new name, I just noticed it, 'cause the only copy of INI files I had was from way before the merge (2008 or 2009) so I still lost a bunch of stuff. I really should make a batch file to start EQ and backup those files across a few computers just to be safe, but I'm really lazy any more. Smiley: tongue

I did hit all 3 buttons. I don't have all the info backed up so its going to be deciding what toon(s) i play to reset.

Set one up exactly as you like it then use that character's to copy to the rest?

You could always go into the EQ directory and copy the files manually.

You can also save your UI_character_server.ini AND character_server.ini in another folder, then just change the names individually for each toon, and resave the new named copy back into your EQ directory.

The issue you'll run into doing it this way, though, is having a bunch of unusable buttons on your hotbars, and saved spell sets that don't make sense (because you made a new Monk, for instance, but the ini you copied was from a Ranger). But it will look the same, chat the same, and be the same in all other aspects.

Green, that is what I thought I had done, but I dont seem to have the copies. I made a separate games folder but since the info is not there, I didn't do it correctly.
