Ranger QuestionFollow

Been looking through the 60+ spell list for Rangers, and I can't seem to find a higher-level version of Immolate. Is there anything that stacks with the Conjuration DoT beyond level 44?

And while I'm on the subject, why the balls isn't Immolate affected by Alacrity focus effects?

For Rangers, there are no higher Fire-based DoTs. There lots of Magic-based DoTs; A new one every 5 levels. The reason for the Spell Haste foci not working, is most, if not all of those only affect spells with 3.0 sec base cast times or longer, and Immolate is 2.5 cast time.

Then at 62, there is Drifting Death, and at 67 there is Locust Swarm, and so on up the levels.

Yeah... I was hoping for something that would stack with the magic-based DoTs, as I don't believe they stack with themselves

In the old days, they didn't stack, but today, dots of the same line as long as not the same name stick and stack, and even of the same name when cast by different players. The old way, made it very difficult to get any DPS out of dots by yourself, let alone with a group. Grouping with a druid pretty much negated any dot we Rangers could cast, since theirs were all higher level and would block ours.

Not all of our magic dots stack with each other, I think it was drones of doom and the one before or after that. If the higher was cast second it would override and if it was cast first the weaker one would get blocked. I remember being mad about this recently, and it's also the only ones I've tried together so I don't know if any other combinations have the same problem.

Our "regular" magic-based dots will stack with each other. These are the ones we get on the 1's and 6's (ie level 71, 76, 81, 86, etc.). Spells like Beetle Swarm, Scarab Swarm and the like.

There is another magic-based dot that was introduced to us in SoD called Swarm of Bees at level 83. This one does not stack with any higher/lower versions, acting the way you described by not landing and/or overwriting.

At 95, I have my swarm dot memmed 98% of the time, and have my highest and second highest other 2 dots memmed when I don't need those 2 spell slots for utility.

So basically, you can have your highest level dot and the one from the previous expansion and should have no problems landing them. It works this way with our nukes too, except for them it's because of spell types coded into the spells themselves.

Now at lower levels (before they gave us the same cookie cutter spells every 5 levels) the stacking issues may still be there. When I was using those spells I didn't have the benefit of extra spell slots, so I hardly ever used a lot of dots... but I do remember being in my 50's killing hill giants with root rotting, and stacking about 3 dots on them at once (as weak as my dots were, lol), and I didn't have any stacking issues then.

There are some +kick type 3 augs that you can purchase off of Zeb in the Void (SoD expansion) for chronos. Other than those I don't know of any +kick gear that people would specifically seek after.

Ahh, thanks. Probably need to do some leveling before I worry about SoD... I'm sitting at 65/122 right now and want to do some more AA grinding first.
