I'm really enjoying EQ1's housing. There is a ton of personal creativity you can apply. It works as a secondary personal bank. It's nice to look out over your neighborhood and... then leave to do anything useful in the game.

Ok, I may be new at the whole housing thing, but they need to add a couple of features right off the bat:

1) Turn off buff timers! Good lord... do this in PoK too, Stop compartmentalizing the game into one overcrowded zone!

2) Let us set up a bazaar linked transaction board in our houses. Buying and selling needs to be unlinked from actually being in the bazaar. You're working on a mobile bazaar app? Good! Now hook up that app to a market board I can hang in my house. You already know how to do this in EQ2 7 years ago.

I could even imagine guilds and fellowships having features like portals out (you do sell wizard spires!)

Housing here could and ultimately will be so much cooler with just a few more features. Does anyone else have ideas to make the housing plots more alive with people and uses?

Suspended mercenaries can be placed as "pets/mounts" - sitting on benches, walking, etc.

Make more "trophys" out of old world items. I had the dain's head in my bank for years for this reason. Create a series of trophy-hunter achiemvents (like scaverger hunts) based on themes (i.e., Faydwer level 1-20, Old Seb, etc.). Other games have you collect butterflies and dumb things --do it in the existing lore.

Once all the cool old ones are done, put in some more to mobs that don't have a trophy drop but should (Najena? although they should just put jboots back on her).

#1 has been done with guild halls. I dunno about adding PoK though. Doing that basically removes a major selling point of the guild lobby (and guild hall). Besides, where'm I gonna park my characters when I stop playing so they'll be fully raid buffed when I come back? Smiley: tongue

All for #2. Seriously. Add this functionality to houses and guild halls (so guilds can dump crap from their guild banks)

I've really enjoyed EQ's housing once I got the hang of it. I have 43 characters in Rendition so I haven't even begun to get full value out of it (Rendition Village only has 1 guild hall and 2 houses placed so far). My plan is to decorate each character's house in a manner that fits/speaks to that character's personality. Long term goal good, and doesn't require Gold.

Oh and guilds already have portals in the guild hall (even the purchased ones). It's an NPC you place, like any other piece or merchant.

Personally, I'd like to see more housing items with particle effects. Like holiday decorations (Christmas lights) and things of that nature. I'd also agree with snailish on more trophies and trophies not tied to the achievement system or raids.

There is a quest for a postal carrier placeable in you house: Courier Favor https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=5522 giving you an NPC: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=100141
I would like to see a feature that a player could buy (only one per House) that will port you to places that the guild hall or pok stones do not cover…example Western Waste. Then the owner could advertise that their property or house has that port and open it up to public. I guess SoE could even charge a royalty sort of like buying the stone to port in guild hall? Or make a quest in said, out of the way, zones that the owner could earn and then place.
And the trophy idea that ANY player visiting the house gets the benefits.
I try to place a candy dish or something “Player Interactive” in each of my properties that way there is some sort of surprise. Also would be nice that the “Door to Nowhere” could be used by anyone?

This was an interesting quest. It is totally biased to light races, with Antonican Bards in evil zones being placed well outside the cities. I plan to do this on my DE enchanter as well, just for kicks. But when I finished this quest and dropped the blue bard in my house, there doesn't seem to be a management menu for him, including send to inventory, etc. How do I move him or pick him up if I move?

I saw these in your houses and wondered what they did - looked it up - and that would be a cool feature and certainly make it easier to visit multiple houses!

Why does the guild lobby need a selling point? I cant see any reason why the whole neighborhood zone does not have a freeze on buff timers. Honestly when i first saw the whole housing thing i automatically assumed it would. When i thought of neighborhoods in EQ i thought of guilds and friends hanging out giving out buffs etc. not the lonesome deserted place 95% of the neighborhoods are.

I agree, once you grab your buffs in the GL, it's nice (or would be) to be able to move to housing and have them suspended.
I'm also discovering the furniture crafting stuff in the housing zone... fletching and JC? I was near max (200, I'm a tailor...) on both these. This seems like a really cheap way to level JC in particular. I've already got a skillup making bookcases.

Is there no market for furniture in the bazaar? Does this seem like a totlly neglected portion of EQ (stolen from EQ2)?
