Is this game really this hard? I downloaded this game, and I cant even get past the tutorial. So far, ive died 82 times,...in the freaking tutorial. Your character is a weak little idiot who cant kill anything. Im doing mission #4 in the gloomsdeep caverns, in the tutorial, where you have to kill like 5 grunts, 10 warriors, 1 soulweaver, something like that..and so far ive died like 70, 80 times..its impossible. The games difficulty is so unbalanced, its ridiculous. It doesnt say much for the game when you cant even do the tutotial missions...and im not a hater, i really wanted to like this game...my friend wants me to play it...but its just way too hard.

Ask your friend to help you?

Aside from that, what class are you playing? You might be able to get some hints.

If your character is naked(no gear) it would be more difficult to solo the whole tutorial. As said above, the best way is to let your friend show you the ropes/help. That's how I got started. My R.L. friend that got me hooked on EQ helped me out the first 2 weeks or so with his lower level alts. He gave me a couple old weapons/gear from his bank and about 10 platinum (it seemed like a lot then) and it got me the start I needed.

If your on your own you could just lvl up to 10 in the tutorial (no questing yet) then go in the cave near the waterfall (near banker etc) in tutorial. This will take you to Crescent Reach(CR). At CR, you could level till about 18-20 and the mobs drop some Re-inforced armor and Defiant gear for your level that will make a difference. At 10 go to field near Blightfire Moors zoneline and there would have some animals, spiders etc that will be good xp for you at 10. When they turn light blue cross the bridge and the mobs are a higher level.

Good luck.

What are you trying to kill in the tutorial? If you go all the way to the kobolds then you're going to get slaughtered.

Hail all the NPCs. They give you information on how to play, and what to do. If you do some simple quests you get some armor pieces. One will upgrade your weapon a little. One will give you a buff (I think it's Rytan, but not 100% sure.) Open your quest journal (I think ALT+Q) and follow the quests.

If you have a friend, see if he can help you with a few defiant pieces. That would be the best armor (best as in easiest to get while giving good benefits) for 60 or 70 levels.

Really its only as hard as u make it.Most of the players in the Tutorial are current players making a new toon,i would ask them to group and help out. Most likely they DONT need the gear/drops and will pass on them.
As others said hail the NPC's they will help and give you information on how to play.As Amastroplo stated Rytan ( yes that is the correct NPC BTW) will give you a buff every time it runs out.

Which server are u on maybe one of us has a toon on that server. If it is on my server id be glad to help out when im on.

Good luck and remember its really not that hard, just takes a little getting used to.And if you are NOT dying then you are doing something wrong..

Say "Ready to Leave" to the barb. npc (Arias? ) and go into PoK and get a merc (free at lvl 1 ) either tank or healer depending on your class. Then log out and click onto the tutorial button to re-enter the tutorial zone .. might help a bit.

And with hardly any "death penalty" now (especially if one is a Cleric, Druid, or Pally or has a Cleric merc), my "fear" of dying from the old days is gone. As a soloer, years ago if I died and couldn't find a Cleric, days of grinding went down the tubes.

Reeeallly glad that is changed now.

i remember our 1st raid in plane of fear , many years ago, when we were dying, we were naked (items on the corpses ).and the only way to get our corpses was to go back where we died.
it took us 16 hours to get our corpses with the help of another guild Smiley: laugh

Gloomingdeep leveling tip for care bears. Skip all the quests and talk to the merc NPC, get yourself a merc tank and leave the zone. Do the quests in CR or just start grinding on mobs until around level 12 or so.. go find the undead, find a good spot where only a few spawn and go afk... come back in a few hours and your merc will have PLd you to 20. Even easier, two box it, have a merc healer and tank for even faster, safer and easier Merc PLing!

If you really want to do all of the tutorial, get a merc right away and WIN! Mercs make 1-60 easy mode. If you want a challenge ( which obviously you do not) then do not use mercs.

Mercs Make the game way easy so yes go with the merc, as far as letting your merc PL u . not a bad idea untill u realize how bad your skills are now and it's all a game of catch up. Just get a merc and have fun. Take your time lvling and enjoy the game.

As a returning player after 8 years I found it quite easy and did not die often in tutorial, but that's also because I still know the basics, and secondly, because I took a mercenary.

One thing that is probably quite important for a new player, or any player starting with no gear, is to use a merc when playing without a group all the time. Not just because it's easier, but it also has other benefits.

If you level using a mercenary, the mercenary will take the exp of a normal group member, so you will get less exp per mob you kill, but will still kill them faster and best of all, the mercenary does not take loot. That means you have to kill twice as many mobs to level, which will go much faster compared to doing so without one, but you also get about twice the loot before you level up compared to playing without one. That means you will gear up better and get more money.
