I origingally had this as an edit to a post, but decided it was better suited as it's own thread, so:

I've been thinking about adding a form to the http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Cultural_Armor page to select Race, Class, Diety, Slot, and Level range, and it show the correct Armor and Symbol name for those selections. Would that be useful, or are the tables easy enough to figure out without adding the extra clutter of a form?

I've also been thinking of doing a page similar to the previously mentioned one for OoW augs, but wasn't sure if anyone still did much with those and needed a cheat sheet for them or not. Any thoughts?

Any other cheat sheet like ideas for wiki pages any one would like? I used to have a bunch made up, just not in wiki format, but unsure if I had them backed up before the hard drive crashes.

Some stuff still on the to do list for wiki pages include list of click effect items, adding the new AA table template to the current AA pages and updating the active AA pages that are missing spell ids, finish categorizing the AAs and making the individual class AA pages, and doing the two spell database definitions pages. Some stuff I've thought about doing, just not sure if I'll get the time to do them how I want with interactive flash stuff or not: In-game and Lucy item display window with mouse-over explanations / definitions; Explanations of items by type (weapons, armor, jewelry, augmentations, containers, books, tradeskill, quest, misc., etc.); How-to pages for in-game stuff, with interactive flash pics of in-game windows.

Alot of these ideas came from my original plan to have an online EQ book, but after I spent so much time figuring out how to do the javascripting to keep the individual pages small enough to fit on a free website, then geocities closing down, as well as me not putting much time into the actual writing of content, I've pretty much let that idea pass. I still may work on it as a Word document or something, or at least continue making notes about it, and maybe include some history type stuff. I've noticed as more time passes and more old EQ websites fall into oblivion (even never being caught by the internet time machine) that I find myself wandering about the old world EQ, but not so much that I want to go back and play original EQ, just interested in reminiscing about it.

Bah! I'm chitty-chatty today. It's probably due to being back in-game and finally talking to someone other than the few family and friends I talk to regularly. :D

Thank you again, Yther, for putting so much work into the Wiki. I personally would find great use for the additions you mentioned for the cultural armor as well as the augments. Even though I have played EQ for a long time, I have never ventured into this area and any help would be wonderful!!

We've lost a lot of EQ sites. Whatever you are willing to take on surely helps.

My suggestion:

Anything that is more awesome than Zam (in a particular area). I know for certain classes or in-game pursuits there are other spots one tends to frequent, at least in conjunction with Zam. The thing is, these sites (when they go) seem to go overnight (and we get gaps in the Zam knowledge because no one puts it here because _____ was always better for that).

OoW Augs page started at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:OoW_Augments

Will add recipe templates later, but need to figure out all the different ways first. The current cheat sheet I have made up only considers not *flow stones, and melee focus effects. I'm not sure if the spell focus effects are created differently, but the *flow stones definitely are slightly different.

I will also get some items linked, and maybe all of them.

As I've been working on the AAs, I realized I haven't included the Alternate Names (those older names used either before they were renamed or when there were tabs for every expansion before they got merged). I was wondering if I should edit the template to include them in the Quick Facts window, or just add them to the bottom after the Rank Requirements. Got any opinion, even one I didn't suggest? Here's an example of Alternate Names for Delay Death:
DoD expansion: Prolonged Mortality rank 1 is now rank 6 of Delay Death
TSS expansion: Death's Door rank 1 is now rank 11 of Delay Death

On the spreadsheet they are formatted as follows:
DoD:Prolonged Mortality(6);TSS:Death's Door(11)

EDIT: Oops. I was also wondering if including older /alt activate numbers would be helpful. I don't have them all, but a few have been changed since UF, and maybe quite a few before that. Any thoughts?

EDIT: An example AA wiki page using a note at the bottom: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Viscid_Roots#Wiki

I'll never need the old names of AAs, but that isn't to say the informaton isn't useful to others.

Thanks again for working on this.

I've started on the Clickies page at: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Items_Clickies A few pages are done, and you can take a look and see if something is needed or not needed to make the tables either look better or be more usable, or to report errors that I have missed. The buff pages are sorted by ascending Spell Slot and descending effect amount so the best for each spell slot is at the top and to make it easier to find the largest amount of stackable (different spell slot number) effects.

EDIT: I did a first run at the form for the Cultural Armor page, but it didn't work right, and I haven't yet taken the time to debug it. My javascript coding is very rusty (I think it was mid to late 90's last time I did much of any thing, other than mid 2000s when I worked on scripting to compact a personal web space, and oh yea, I did a fretboard diagram for various scales and chords back then too. I should repost that on a new web site, as it's very useful musical tool), but I plan on getting back to it after the Clicky pages are done, or mostly done.

Very nice charts. Looks like a lot of work and I'm glad that someone has the fortitude to make this.

Your Javascript coding is light years ahead of mine Smiley: smile.

Thanks for this effort.

There are some really well done guides out there (someone put together a fantasitc shaman epic 1.0 guide that I've been using.) Too bad those couldn't be incorporated into the wiki.

Those sites won't be up forever, and it would be a shame to lose the work that's been done there.

Epic walkthroughs and checklists (I use them all the time.)

An armor progression guide. Someone was asking what to do after the newbie armor is done. Where does he upgrade (defiant is not available on TLP.)

Maybe I'm thinking too TLP specific, although, with the F2P influx of people (hopefully) people may be looking for various information.

You raise good points:

-progression does require the old information in a new way, because most sites don't keep stuff "era-sorted" (and of course progression isn't necessarily pure to era anyway. Many of the "great quests" such as 1.0, certain Sol Ro, Cabilis "epics" and so on come to mind as needing much cleaner walkthroughs without reading years worth of mostly useless posts.

-armor progression guide from the progression on progression standpoint vs. "hey I'm coming back and want to do content at 70, 75, 80... on a real server". My brother and I are in the second situation where we've finally moving up to level 75. We think a combination of defiant, "lost" and items with type 7 & type 3 aug slots are our best bet, but maybe there is something from TSS or TBS or? that we would want for a specific slot.

Right now there's way to much info to sort through, and trying to judge what is an insane faction grind for the reward or requires a raid is really hard when you are looking at 5+ years worth of content in one go. So I guess what I am saying is... maybe a "Hey you want to sit at 75 and do content/AA? here's what to go for" kind of page.

Another way of looking at it would be... "You are level 80 and should have done _____ by now". For example I think there is a mission arc in TBS that gives you +to innate stats or something? Pretty sure it's trivial to group by level 80 --but I don't know. So there's info on the wiki I would use.

Yes, exactly those kinds of things. At level 80 you should have done xxx. (or xxx is a quest good for level 80). Then I know I can do that and what the reward is. Like the occulus or the hand or the shield thingy quests.

Playing on TLP, that's one of the biggest problems. OK, Luclin what should I do? Hrm, what was the amror set from there? Was it group was it raid? I'm doing things like the Coldain Ring (and I got tricked into looting the bones from Venril Sathir to do the iksar shaman quest (though I'm a barbarian, so much factioning in my future.)) I have done the skull cap and Greenmist before, so I know they are acutally really good quests.

I had actually thought of the equipment by level a long time ago, unfortunately doing it by expansion would be very difficult. However, there was a guild I was in that had a page on the best plate armor by expansion. It was all raid at the time the expansion was the newest, and only plate, so was very limited but gave a good idea, and probably could of been used to narrow down the other armor types by limiting the max ac (and possibly hps). Anyway, defiant gear came out while I was working on it, and it didn't seem that valuable anymore. Defiant is pretty much the way to go now-a-days, other than a few quests for augs, and a few specialty items, and weapons especially for melee and hybrids, and of course clicky items.

I'll see what I can do after I get mostly done with the click effects pages. I have alot of ideas, because there are several things I pretty much do on all toons once they get to the level. Examples are the Adventurer's Stone, Hand Aug, certain DoDh Spell Arcs, DoN Progression, buying the Icy Prism of Avoidance from EF LDoN camp, and usually the anger augs from LDoNs for tanks, the Shield quest from TSS on some toons, SoD Progression for merc upgrades, and that's about all I can remember at the moment. There's probably some more that are like the shield and I only do for certain toons / classes. Invis clickies for those toons that can't, I guess is another common one. And my Iks War still has none, as there are so few. Oh yea, the TSS charm group parts, or at least the solo-able parts at low levels, as it's good xp and an awesome charm upto about 70 to 80.

EDIT: I too prefer checklists for long quests (epics), and actually for all quests that are already solved. I'm generally only interested in the dialog when figuring one out, and with most using the new task system, the dialog is more of fluff for the lore / roleplaying aspects. That isn't to say it's not good for that, but once an expansion is old, or you've done the quest already, it just becomes annoying and you skip over it, instead of re-reading it as you already know the jist of what's being said.

In an old database I had done for EQ where I had planned on having quest info, I had it set up to be very concise unless you wanted the dialog in the report. Basically each step involved an Action and an Object. If the object was an NPC or named mob, then there would also be a zone and location, otherwise for items, a link to the item in the database, where a memo field would list mobs that drop it, or locations it can be obtained from for bought items, or fixed containers, or links to recipes.

Wiki page listing low delay weapons for practicing started, but needs some more work. I left out Martial (H2H) weapons and Bows and Thrown items as well for the moment. It may not list easy to get items for specific classes yet, but I'll make sure to put some in for every class. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Items_Practice_Weapons

EDIT: Decided to leave out H2H altogether, since going weaponless is a good way to skill up that skill. Added thrown and bows, but left out no trade of each. I will add in some good no trade bows, but I don't think there are any easy to get lots of no trade thrown items, other than summoned ones. I look into items that summon thrown items and add a table for those specifically. There may be some other good, low delay weapons that I left out. Some I did intentionally as they no longer drop, but I may add a section just for those, that can be traded (bought and sold).

Working on a Riposte weapons page at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Items_Riposte_Weapons to compliment the Practice weapons page.

Hope to finish up the clickies page this weekend also, or at least get a majority of it done.
