ok i used my /claim and got the ornate barding ( warhorse ) this horse is slower than spirit of wolf, im very dissappointed so im looking at marketplace at the mounts for 950 sc example (the armored snow puma) i googled it and couldnt find exactly how fast this puma is, if its faster than spirit of wolf or not, so i guess my question is is anyof the mounts on marketplace faster than my stupid ornate barding (warhorse), i want to get from one end of zone to other end passing all the aggro mobs in the way than trottin gpast them on my stupid horse that isnt gettting me far lol, not sure if i purchase the 950 sc mpunts or spend the 1900-2450 sc mounts?

Spell data shows: Summon Horse: SumMPUm4Run2, which is the same speed as the plain Chain Bridles you can buy in the bazaar, which would make them faster than SoW.

The following is an older speed chart. Mount run speeds have been changed, but the relative speeds should still rank the same, just most of the slower ones are faster than they used to be and rated in the chart. Note: Starts about mid-way down the page: http://samanna.net/gen.info/buffs.shtml

EDIT: Minor re-wording for clarity.

Just to be sure, it was this one you were talking about? https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=96863

That's what I based the Run2 off of. If it's different, you'll have to look up the item, then the effect, and see what the last part of the summon is for the speed: Slow, Run1, Run2, Fast, etc.

Most of the earlier /claim mounts were slow. There's ways to upgrade them but cost is involved (thinking of the roboboar). They function well as a seat. So in a stationary camp they work as good as an expensive fast mount.

So depending on what you want the mount for, they may be sufficient.

Examples:

-my 65 monk has the AA for runspeed 5. Much faster than a slow mount. No reason for mount.

-my necro had runspeed 3, but can snare. So as long as I hunt things I can snare I will usually be able to outrun them (occasionaly I find a mob that is fast even when snared). My necro had a slow mount for sitting on just in case I was in a group/static camp situation.

Do you have either of the 999 quanitity /claim mounts (desert kangon and gold lion --though exact names are a bit different)? They are both faster to my knowledge (kangon is for sure. I don't like the lion so haven't claimed it at all). My necro now kites occasionally with the kangon mount.

I was thinking of that as well - one of my /claim mounts when I purchased SoD was the Topiary Lion. I don't know what the speed ist, but I think it is a bit faster than SoW. I claimed it for all my toons and really like it.

I never used the chain bridle or the other /claim mounts I have when I saw everybody dashing past me on the Topiary Lion.
