2011 saw me return to the game for progression, stall out on that at level 45 pre-Kunark. Rather than quitting the game though... I ended up getting talked into moving most of my characters to FV to assist my brother with his bard. By the summer's end he hadn't been on much (So why are all my characters here! Grr... sort of --I got over it). In November I got him interested in rolling Player-killer flagged characters on Trakanon (a ridiculous concept we know) and we got them to level 20 but it seemed like an empty pursuit.

The last 2 months he's been working on his 2nd oldest character (a necro from 2003)on FV and has gained 3 levels and about 30 aa being very casual. My necro (on FV due to that bard plan) has made huge gains since the summer... 1 level (lol but it did take 3-4 years) and 600ish aa. The other day I killed Trakanon with only a merc helping me --not earthshattering by any means, but something I had always wanted to do. So 2011 was a good year overall in EQ, despite some deadends along the way.

2012 looks to be a good one:

-going to get my brother to move up to level 80 with me (maybe even 85). I'm very close to ready for 75 already. Filling the guild bank with level 80 req gear is helping to motivate him.

-epic 1.5 and maybe 2.0

-We've decided we have a target list and it's time to get them:

Original: Temple of Cazic Thule (event), All of Hate, Fear and Sky. We also want to slay Kaladim and Mayor Gubbin...
Kunark: Veeshan's Peak
Velious: Lord Bob, Zlandicar, NToV, Sleeper's Tomb, Plane of Growth (yep... we are evil), Skyshrine, Kael (we've both done it... never together though), the Dain, Siren's Grotto
Luclin: every boss/zone above 55 really (Seru, Greig, etc.)
PoP: we've talked about dabbling through the planar progression perhaps, just to see how far we can get doing it casually in our small group.

Later content isn't on our list yet. It's taken us 8 years to get it down to this.

What are you all hoping to get to in EQ in the next year?

edit: VP is Kunark, not NToV (oops)

2011 in EQ was pretty much a no go. I only played very little in Jan and beginning of Feb, then canceled my subscription due to computer problems (both good computers). Just in the past week, resubscribed. Still haven't really played, just logged in to do some research and getting new UI patch installed and stuff in order.

Not real sure about what I want to do in-game, if anything other than some research. EQ is fun, but once I really get into it, I want to play hardcore, and I don't think I'll have time for that for a while, due to RL requirements. I've been playing a very little of EQ2, but it's not as enjoyable as it was when it first came out. I'm going to look into SWTOR and a few other games, like Tera, I've been waiting on for a long time.

If get back into EQ very much, I'll probably get the two expansions I'm missing and work on leveling up and getting some upgrades and progression done along the way. I've done most things many times upto TSS expansion. None of the TBS raids, but about half of the SoF and SoD ones, and a large portion of it's group content.

More importantly, I'm looking for real life to be an improvement in 2012. It should be, on how it looks now. 2011 wasn't very good all around.

I like your goals snailish. Epics should be do-able with 2 80s and 2 mercs for the most part (definitely 1.5s; 2.0s will probably need more for Anguish, with no mercs there, and maybe 1 or 2 fights other than that). PoP other than Time should be doable at 80 also. Some guildies did all of PoP other than EP and Time one grouped at 75, before defiant gear and mercs of course. It was tons of fun! Somehow Yther still missed the Agnarr and Mithaniel Marr fights, so still isn't fully normal flagged for EPs and PoTime. PoGrowth is fun, and a good place to farm Rng / Dru junk at. I've wanted to kill Tunare for the clicky AC/DS buff belt for my Warriors, but haven't gotten around to it, especially after the first go with my Rng there, only killing 2 minor nameds and a slew of trash took me to max KoS on lots of factions.

I've been thinking about trying out a TLP server. It'd probably be the best way to get back into the game, starting a new toon after so long out of game. I wasn't playing much for many months before I cancelled anyway, other than for seasonal events. Unfortunately last Frostfall, the goblin illusion quest was broken for the 2nd year in a row. :(

Not recalling everything, since I've been working hard on the wiki AAs. Today, I've been gathering info on the HoT and VoA new AAs, as well as trying to get the catergorizations done and fixing the spreadsheet to support the higher ranks. Looks like I'm going to have to have two spreadsheets for all the ranks now. Last week I was working an AA Table wiki template, that is almost complete.

Now that I'm thinking about it. My game said 16 of 18 expansions, which means, I have UF now. I'll have to check toons out, someone must have gifted it to me, as I don't remember purchasing it :) I wondered why when I was logging in, all my toons were getting Achievements. :D

About all I can think of at the moment, maybe some more later, or in the weekend update.

Have fun everyone!

Yther Ore.

2012 will feature a lot less EQ for me unless they fix the healer mercs.

I have four accounts and I am dropping three of them (last play day is January 4th, 2012) in protest. I am simply not having much fun with healer mercs level 93+ who do not heal properly. On the SoE forums there are many posts about these healer merc issues since the release of VoA and I have sent a couple PM's to Piestro and the other devs but have heard only silence. If they aren't fixed soon or at least acknowledge as faulty by devs then I will let my last account lapse and shift my playtime to EQ2, LOTRO and STO. I doubt the loss of four accounts will mean anything to anyone but I made sure they know the station IDs of the accounts that I am canceling and why.

I am very sad about the possibility of taking a break from the game but the frustration is not worth it.

You can't have my stuff because I am hoping they get these issues fixed and I want to come back. I have had so much fun since I came back in SoD and I will miss logging into Zam each day to look at the new EQ updates and peruse the forums.

Thank you to the Zam contributors for all your help.

May your drops drop and your pops pop.

I'm starting the new year with a paladin.

My goal is to get him to level 70 building AA's along the way.

I lost interest in the pally at 42, besides my mage caught me cheating on her !

Happy New Year guys!

June of 2011 saw me returning to EQ after a 3-4 year hiatus. When I returned my main (Druid) was level 61 and alt Pally, although first toon created, was level 36. By moving to FV and intermittent help from my guild I ended the year with my Druid at level 80 and Pally at 60 with one of her long-term goals met: getting her first Holy Steed. Druid earned her Junior Baking trophy.

2012 will likely be a mixed bag. Now that I am also enjoying WoW as well as wanting to spend more time again in SL (I can earn USD there instead of spend it, while enjoying the world); I may play EQ a month here and there when the mood strikes me.

I have no interest in anything remotely resembling hardcore playing nor venturing into the last several expac zones, nor even racking up AAs. I'm enjoying taking my Druid into Old World zones I never saw when I played previously, playing my Pally casually, and helping EQ returnees when I can.

Goals for EQ in 2012 include achieving the Master Baker trophy on my Druid, completing the old Prayer Shawl quest, going through the PoP progression, and *maybe* working on Epic 2.0. With all this talk of killing Tunare, I may station myself there and help protect her *grins*. My two main requisites for online games or virtual worlds is relaxation and socialization.

I might PL up a Pally/Necro/Shammy trio for the heck of it. Definitely need to do epic 1.5s across my 6 accounts just to show i did it. hehe. shouldn't be too bad considering my toons are 86+. They are lacking AAs though.

My main goal is to try to make time for EQ. I would like to do a rather easy goal of like 6 AAs a day to catch up. If I started doing it daily (and on Jan 1st, lol), I'd gain 2190 by the end of 2012. :P

I've taken a couple breaks last year, due to my lack of interest in the game.. But, as usual with my breaks.. my addiction to the game creeps in.

Last year, I leveled up 2 mage box, through the use of LDoN's.. It's slow, but it's fun.

This year, I'm hoping to get my level 73 druid up to 1k aa's, because well.. I've been slacking on the aa part. I'm also planning on re-building my guild up again. We used to have quite a few people back when we were on Mayong and used to raid frequently. Who knows what the new year will bring. =)

I plan to play on a regular basis this year...last year saw a major life change for me, I moved to a new job in the same industry...this included physically moving from Reno, Nevada to Loveland, Colorado...all of which completely assassinated my playtime.

It took about six months for my wife to join me here. I deeply suspicion that her need to mother our young adult chidren will keep her going back and forth on a regular basis, lol.

This will give me more condensed blocks of eq time... I think.

I have four accounts and two separate crews... one crew-> sham, dru,sk and bard are level 85, other crew-> pally, cleric, wiz and mage are 70-75 and are suffering from neglect.

I will work towards finishing the progression in SOD on the 85 level group before exploring any other content. in March/April I will make a decision to renew all four acounts again or return to just one or two.

I decided not to purchase the latest expansion and I am thinking that it may be the beginning of the end as I haven't had a chance to group with anyone other than myself for a couple years and I know that the conversations my four toons are having with each other are not healthy in a psychological sense ;-)

Hope the new year finds everyone happy and healthy with continued great fun.

I don't have any specific goals. I'd like to join in on some guild raids on Vulak (we attempted Gore yesterday which was a blast, but didn't have any luck.) Just keep on keepin on I guess. Levelling up, ******** around.

I guess I'd like to finish the shaman epic, and get the war/cleric duo up to the point where I can do things easily without worrying about getting a group.

Once PoP comes out, I'd like to do the progression again. I still think that was some of the best times I had in EQ (once they fixed the zone access things.) And get some LDoNs in too.

All in all,2011 was a good year for me in EQ.

Before HOT,I had skipped most of UF progression wise but finally got my SK's aas and gear up to reasonable levels for the years current content with HOT. He was always behind the current contents progression before lol, resulting in my Necro main suffering with progression as I could not get our once consistent group together on a regular basis.

2012 will be the year that I will slow down and enjoy EQ again more..tired of the rush to max lvl etc and especially progression...I decided to leave my 3 main characters at 90 and take them into UF to experience the content , much of which I had skipped when it was current. HOT will also be more fun when having the freedom to not do the missions.

Finally, I can enjoy my army of lower lvl alts that I thoroughly enjoy playing in the older world..not having to worry about current progression for a while. I met 2 people that recently returned and we are going to lvl them up to 85 and do the SOD warrens arc for their J5 mercs and my Wiz and Berserker alts. We should have a blast of a time..

How funny to run across this thread JUST as I was literally thinking, what should I do next. And frankly, I'm a bit undecided. I came back after retiring in 07. I've been playing my original toon I started in 2001, as well as my alts on alternate accounts. Typically I play my 71 Druid (Tank Merc), 71 Warrior (Melee Merc), and 65 Chanter (Cleric Merc). I've pretty much maxed out all I can do in PoP and OoW without raid help. Also sad to find that Defiant Armor is better than most armor that is groupable in OoW. AND, my Warrior's armor is crap compared to my Warrior Merc's armor. (cry)

Sooooo. I think I am going to shift focus to spells for my Druid & Chanter, switch to AA progression for my Druid & Warrior, and level up the Chanter to meet them. Might also try to find a casual guild to help out and get back into the social game. 3 Boxing w/ Merc's is fun, but can get boring.

Also need a damn puller, so I may level up a monk and 4 box. :)

Nazggul, Tanir & Tinlin (Bertoxxolous) Look me up.

Welcome back! I began playing in 1999 and quit in 2006 so we were playing in the same eras of the game. I returned last June during the free days offer and decided to stay again, at least intermittently. When I left the game my Druid main was 61 (high level had *just* changed to 70) and my first-created toon was languishing as a 36 Paladin. Re-entering the game was an eye-opener between the high level being 90 (now 95 with the VoA expac), mercs, progressions, etc.

I'm a 95% soloer so I level slowly; however, after transferring to the FV server that has an experience bonus (I didn't know that when I transferred, I just wanted to go to the roleplay server which really isn't anymore), a couple double experience weekends, a bit of help from my new guild and a duo partner for my Pally, I'm now at level 80 on my druid and 60 on the Pally and holding steady. I am WAY behind in AAs; like laughable behind.

I can relate. I remember how hard I worked to get my druid a full set of Elysian armor that was considered "the" armor to have for the class back in the day. I'm keeping the Elysian (and some other items that were treasures long ago) in my bank as mementos of the game.

If you ever decide to roll a toon on FV, would enjoy meeting you.

Oh, the roleplay is there.. just not out in the open. There's quite a few people that roleplay.

I realize that; our guild has role play evenings once in awhile on a different channel. I was referring to FV as a whole being a rp server like years ago when only one toon was allowed on, good and evil races could not group together, and there was not a common language. If one wanted to communicate with someone of a different race, they had to learn the language; language classes were given regularly. Smiley: smile I rolled a toon there during that time to check it out and would have stayed there had I not already put a lot of time in my other toons, was in a guild, had many friends on my former server, etc. A dwarf hailed my woodelf in Kelethin once while I was there and, by using basically "hand signals" (emotes to "draw a picture") asked directions. It was a challenge to convey the simplest thing.

Now that one can have multiple toons on FV plus a common language and no restriction on the evil/good races grouping, imo FV has lost that overall rp "flavor." While some people do rp, the server overall is basically now a regular server with exp bonus and less restrictions on no drop items.

I remember the 1 toon days.. People couldn't hide if they were outcast from the community. You either stuck it out or rerolled (albeit rarely). I miss those days. :(

Me too. I really wish that FV was still like that. The challenge of one toon (no 2/3-boxing), no alt twinking, not to mention the other elements of FV was a lot of fun. I didn't even think of the outcast part...lol. Dang! Wish I'd stayed back then - and it was what I was expecting on FV when I returned to EQ last summer. Smiley: frown

I would love either of the following scenarios:

1. A new progression server with the orginal FV rules, especially the 1 character.

2. A new regular server where you could only have 1 character (whether old FV rules, current FV rules or just regular rules). Preferrably with the ability to move an existing one there.
