Wizard Merc Balanced vs Burn?Follow

I need a bit of advice from you mathematical types out there. Smiley: grin The basic question is: when moloing, is there any change in % of experience dependent on how much damage the merc does?

Situation: I've been using a wizard merc set on "Balanced" with my Pally. I was pleasantly surprised that the mobs ignore her and I don't have to buff or heal the merc. I *did* find it kind of interesting that the merc threw in the highest nuke near the end of the fight. (Which really shouldn't have when I think back to the times I grouped with "live" wizards.)

Out of curiosity, I set the merc on the "Burn" setting for awhile tonight. Whoa! That turned the tables on the mobs pounding on the merc and ignoring me, even with my constant taunting. I was extremely surprised that, for all the beating she was getting, the wizard merc's health didn't drop much, especially compared to mine when I'm taking the beating. And here I thought wizards were made of glass...lol. Using that setting, each fight went MUCH faster, I barely used any mana, and required very little, if any, healing; thus being able to go through more mobs in a shorter period of time.

So, back to my main question - if the merc is doing most of the damage, am I getting any less exp per kill? If not, this is definitely how I plan to proceed in moloing the Pally. If I am getting less exp, is it made up by killing much faster? I watched my exp bar using each method, but since I have to kill quite a few mobs to actually see the bar move, I couldn't really tell.

Mercs will function just like any old group member as far as the amount of XP they eat/you get per kill. Otherwise you wouldn't see the people who like to AFK and let mercs collect scraps of xp while they work/sleep ;).

LOL...I wouldn't have even thought about going afk and having my merc fight for me. I used to know people in years past who would put their toons in a safe crevice of a pond somewhere (such as in Felwithe) and let them increase their swimming skills while afk. With my penchant for drowning (a long story) I was even loathe to do that. Smiley: lol

Thank you for your response, Saeel - I pretty much *thought* that was the case, but wanted to double check. Let the burning begin!!!
