I was in trader mode most of the weekend, didn't get around to playing until Sunday afternoon. Upside of this was my best few days in sales in the past few years. Considering I had depleted my plat to almost zero buying rank I spells and these new (to me) merc things this was good.

So Sunday afternoon I logged in the 71 necro who was outside Plane of Tactics. Went in and burned Lesson. I find it amusing that I can tap-tank most of a zone I couldn't single pull/kill a mob a few levels ago. Got tired of that so decided to go on a world tour using my new /claim faster mount (necro had a roboboar to sit on).

I caught Severilous up in Emerald jungle. He aggroed me long before my pet caught up. He really is an easy kill now though. Went into Sebilis. Was clearing all the jugs (saw a few myconids dead on my way through) got leapfrogged by a red con wizard... but Trakanon was already dead and rotting (4 minutes left on the timer). Not sure I could have taken Trakanon yet anyways. Odd thing was the wizard killing half the jugs on me but not looting any of them.

Next I went to Droga, killed a few named but most weren't up, ran through Nurga long enough to get lost so I levanted out to Frontier Mountains. Hit the Burning woods long enough to decide that Dreadlands was calling. I was looking at a yeti thinking "lunch" when Gorenaire aggroed so I got to kill 2 dragons in one day. Got both books for paladin epic by the way.

Next stop (after dumping bags in PoK) was Great Divide. Decided to go to Velk's (a zone I have always hated). Managed to navigate around a bit. Lord bob wasn't up (wanted to try him) but Velk was. Velk has big hitpoints. I couldn't burn down his guards fast enough and didn't tactically approach it right so I died. More embarrassing was my bind point was Icefall glacier and I died there while rez effects were on me (doh). Been a while since I lost xp.

I rezzed up in Icefall and decided to go back to Velks. I had seen a level 95 ranger in the zone so I figured Velk would be dead by the time I got back. He was farming a quest drop and hadn't touched Velk. He offered to help me get my body back --which was nice, but I was able to get it. He dropped Velk before I could make a 2nd foolish attempt. I'll get Velk someday.

From there I went to Mischief, decided that wasn't what I wanted to do so zoned out on the tree to Cobalt Scar (necro isn't guilded so doesn't have port access). Swam around CS a bit (die sirens!) then went to Siren't Grotto. Seahorses and Neriad maidens hate me now. Couldn't really navigate in SG so got tired of that. Levanted to Western Wastes zoneline. In WW I killed a named dragon that used to have loot and be for a quest, not convinced he does now. My final tour stop was Dragon Necropolis.

Last time I was in DN it was a hotzone and really hard for me to do much other than the spiders. I ran by all that and was eating ratman for dinner. Some of the ratman are still giving xp at 71 which amazed me. No interesting named up so I logged there. Good chance I eat a death next time I login.

Sounds like a fun tour of the world.

I played my shaman a bit. Killed orcs in the ry`gorr fort for a couple hours. Then I died, and lost most of my progress (/grrrr).

Decided to look for a spot to fight with my cleric (19) and war (18). Found a dblue froglok in SoNH, buffed up the war, which took a fair bit of mana, but attacked him anyway. A froglok shaman happened by and joined in the fight, and with my mana status, it was too much. Started running for the zone and almost made it. Dang it.

Anyway, that's about it for me. Oh, I also started playing Uncharted (the very first one.) Stuck on some shootout in a cave with these pirate dudes. Can't get past that part.

Very active EQ weekend here (when I really should have been doing much-needed RL tasks):

Fri: Paired up my 53 Pally with a certain 55 Shaman so I could also reach level 55 and then start working some AAs. We went to Veksar and headed to the undead area. We cleared out all the hallways, swam down the aqueduct to the higher level mobs and handed their heads to them. Dinged about 1/4 of the way into 55. Did my usual spell skill up after each level then headed out for the level 54-55 spells. Another quest...arrggghh! The quest was in The Ruins of Takish-Hiz, a zone I had never heard of. Read up on it. Listed as a 50-60 zone but, based on some of the posts re: the zone, I was a bit wary so ran through the quest with my 78 Druid. I know my Druid is waaaayyy underpowered (250 AAs...average equipment) but it's a bit embarrassing to have to keep healing myself in a 50-60 zone WHILE using my merc. In my defense, the mobs summoned, so most of the hits were before I stepped back again. I ran through the quest twice because all classes can do it - each get different spells and/or rewards. I got a spell for my Druid, albeit a level 44 one. Instead of risking my similarly underpowered Pally in the zone, I picked up the items to give to my Pally to hand in for her spell.

Sat: Level 78 Druid had been concentrating on AAs. However, I had quite a few very nice upgrade pieces of equipment I could use at level 80. One of my guildmates that I know pretty well asked in guild chat if anyone needed any help. I IM'd him and said I would LOVE to get to level 80 to be able to use the equipment stashed away plus it was a nice round number to "live at" for awhile. He took me back to the Mechamatic Guardian where I happily dinged 80 and am now traversing Norrath with many new items, most of which have a clickie effect. I particularly like my new shield. It's translucent and rimmed in blue. (Fashion always has to be taken into consideration.Smiley: wink)

Spent most of Saturday in EQ. Two new druids, one level 50 and one level 70, joined our guild. The level 50 druid had been out of EQ for 10 years I think he said. The poor guy was still wearing cloth gloves. I dug through inventory I was going to use as tribute and, although what I had wasn't high level, it was better than what he had and he was excited to get it. He also didn't know what the guild hall was so I showed him around there as well. He will be away for a few days; I told him when he returned I can group my Pally with him and help gain more exp. I had some level 70-82 spells to give to the level 70 druid. I was pleased I could help in some small way since I have received a lot of help recently.

Sun: Began the great 79-80 spell quest for my druid. Most were in a level 80 zone which, again, I had never entered. Brilliant! Stick the spell NPCs deep into a zone where half the mobs see through invis. Made it out of there alive then picked up the port spells in The Plane of Time A and Brell's Rest. Never ventured there either. Brell's Rest was a lovely zone, at least the entry area. I didn't venture any farther than the spell NPC.

Since I was going into new territories (for me), decided to poke my nose into the Plane of Hate. When these Planes first came out, entire raid groups were doing them. My druid accompanied by tank merc just strolled around zapping everything in sight. No exp but at least I can say I've been in the Plane of Hate.

It's not "some small way". The game lives thanks to efforts like yours continuing to grow our community. SoE's efforts can lead people back (i.e., free 30 days, bonus xp, etc.) but it's the people returnees interact with in game that ultimately hold the power. It's the living, breathing population that makes EQ better than other solo games a person could be playing.

Still playing my shaman on Firiona Vie. We're level 55 working on AAs and getting excellent progress here in Maiden's Eye.

To show just how much fun we're having, I'm going to try to attach a screenshot:

Screenshot

I toggled old spell effects on for this session! If anyone has characters around that level on FV, look us up!

edit: Sadly you can't see the sexy iksar tail in this shot. Also, Azalysa claims she is sitting on some kind of invisible topiary lion.

I don't "claim" I'm sitting on my topiary lion, I am, you just can't see without turning the models on. Smiley: lol

Wow, my Pally looks way different on your screen - the "catwoman" helmet doesn't show up, nor my dyed armor.

Great photo, Samatman :) Thank you for posting.

SIDE NOTE: We have really been having a good time playing our more casual play style. We would LOVE more to join us, especially to do some LDoN groups as we both enjoyed them back in the day.

Would LOVE you to join us! Just shoot a tell in game to either Darkhorse, Azalysa, or if we're not on, Terrillian (my main) might be around. Or send one of us an email in game. Or a PM here.

My EQ game pass just ran out last night so I need to pick another one up this weekend so I may not be online until next week.
