Paladin AA Gate?Follow

So I'm working on AAs for my 51 Pally and recalled that a warrior I knew got an AA gate, iirc. She said she could "gate now" so I assumed it was via an AA.

Anyway, I went over the AA list for my Pally with a fine tooth comb last night and did not see one for gating, which would REALLY be handy. I purchased a couple of gate pots in the Bazaar awhile back but they were EXPENSIVE! Anyone know if there is a Gate AA for Pallys and what the name would be, please.

I came across the Holy Steed I can get at level 55 or 59 (forget which) with AAs. Considering the Topiary Lions, is the Pally Steed worthwhile?

Thank you all. Smiley: smile

Likely possibilities:

Throne of Heroes (8th year Vet AA)
Origin (General AA, port to home city)
Some wierd looking shield, has a long casting gate as a clicky, forget name
OT Hammer?

I'm sure there are lots of others, but that's just off of the top of my head.

Tat

Oh yeah, there are alchemy-made pots with various ports as well.

Most likely, it was in reference to Origin or Throne of Heroes, as they're long refresh timer AAs. There are AAs to shorten to Origin's refresh timer, but at higher levels.

It says starting city in the description, but the way I remember it is, it is the default class / racial city for the toon. So if you're Hum Rng, it will be Surefall Glade whether you picked any other city or not. The main reason this is good, is it puts you close to your racial tribute master, but for some combinations can be a bit of a run back to PoK or anywhere else.

Elf Rng / Elf Dru is one of the nicest ones, as just 1 (or 0) platform from the Tribute master, about 10-15sec with SoW or better from PoK book, 2 (or 3) platforms from a banker. Of course an Elf Dru has lots of other ports available.

There are many other non-AA ports. I don't recall any Pal specific ones other than the OT Hammer (Worker Sledgemallet), Tatankaseventh already mentioned.

Gate and TL potions, in general, sell for almost the same as the cost of the components to make, so making a Shm to save money, is not really an option, if they're normally available for sale. (EDIT: yea, about 150-160p to make depending on skill / AAs / failure rate. All of my Shm generally sell them for 160-175p, depending on my failure rate).

With my shaman I can create a gate potion for about 145 plat. So ask around in game. All of my toons carry gate pots, even the ones who can gate.

Can also return home from the character select screen if you've been logged off for a few hours (6 I think.)

I use this from time to time to get back to my home city for restocking and stuff, and then gate back to where I was hunting (if I happened to rememeber to bind myself there.)

Ahhhh...Origin may be what the warrior friend had. Will look for that. I don't care where I gate to, it would just be nice to be able to get out of a bad situation quickly...lol

Thank you, Tatanka :)

Thanks, Jonwin...in the Bazaar on FV gate pots sell for ridiculous amounts of pp. I haven't looked lately so will check that out again, as well as ask in General Chat.

Oh that's good to know. For the gate I was mainly thinking of quickly evacing from a fight like I do with my Druid. Or in Monty Python terms, "Run away, run away!"

If possible, obtain a

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=81775

as soon as possible. Its instant cast so has massive advantages for those "OMGWTFTRAIN!!!" moments. Sure it doesn't take you anywhere completely safe, but its an awesome tool for suicide running in for a hail or turn in and then poofing away to safety. Saved my bacon countless times.

The EQ1 AA is still very nice, and the fastest mount. The first EQ2 Pal / SK mount, is a level 20 spell or skill (I forget), and is very slow, although there are other higher level versions that are faster. As I remember it, in EQ2, originally, the 10p bought horse was the fastest available upto level 50.

http://samanna.net/gen.info/buffs.shtml Speed comparison mid-way down the page. Although, the actual rates have changed recently, the order should still be the same.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spelllist.html?name=summon+horse&type=any&level=--N%2FA--&opt=Only&action=search Last word part tells speed (i.e. Slow1, Slow2, Run1, Run2, Run3, Fast, and Fast2).

Thank you for the specific links, Yther. I couldn't get in game yesterday (see my post on crashing on login) but am hopeful I will be able to today and will check out all those options.

YES!! Exactly the situation I envisioned needing a gate for!! Will check out the quest...it may be too high for even my druid...didn't read it yet but saw "Mechanotus" and had a bad feeling...lol. I'm sure they're for sale for ridiculous amounts in the Bazaar...but would be worth it!

Thank you!!
