What should the upcoming hotzones be? (late 2011)Follow

Official boards community rep stated in a thread that hotzones are going to be changed sometime after Veil of Alaris launch...

So what zones should they do? I'd like something different myself (no repeats or threepeats).

My vote is for LDoN... but they'd need to do a regular set of zones as well just to make it work for various playstyles.

I don't see the need for new drops or quests by the way (if that is the reason we have to wait so long for the hotzones to be changed I would rather see the precedent dropped).


Not that this forum sways the devs, but I'm curious what the alla folk would like to see.

They need to make hotzones for all levels 1 to 95 they need bonus exp as well.

As long as they continue to offer the aug drops in the old hot zones, like they do now, then agreed, no need to offer new ones.... go to the new hot zone for good XP, go to the former hot zones for augs.

As far as what zones, a nice mix of outdoor/kitable zones and dungeons would be good, swapping each time (ie. 50 outdoor, 55 dungeon, 60 outdoor, 65 dungeon), so that the kiters don't get locked out of viable zones to go to.

Oh, and keep Nadox. It is, quite simply, the best PL zone ever :)

"Change is GOOD"....same O'l same O'l gets boring. SoE needs to make an effort to keep the game FRESH. But my opinion, as a marketing sense would have been to change the Hot Zones earlier say July ...little between Anniversary and the New expansion. But to change hot zone close to expansion date is a waste of marketing. Now, introduce the New Expansion. Get all the tweeks out of it, and play into Anniversary again. Then in June change hot zones and maybe add a new zone like way back when, when they added Warrens, https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/zones.html?zstrat=124 ? But, I will take a change now has almost been a year from the last change, Dec, 2010

If creating new Augs is a problem the developers could just use previous hotzone augs in some of the new hotzones. It shouldn't be too much additional work for the skeleton crew/developers at this time.

I would like to see an 85 hotzone such as "Old Bloodfields"(lots of mobs) or "Brells Rest" added to the mix.

At lvl 40 Dreadlands was my favorite as it had fast respawn and plenty mobs/camps.... At level 75 Direwind Cliffs would be a nice change also.

I love LDoN. Still have a blast doing them.

The group requirement, and subpar rewards make them less than ideal though. I'd love to see that whole expansion totally revamped and scaled up to 95. What a blast those were, even with the redundant layouts.

I would like to see augs in the new hot zones but they can recycle some of the existing augs if they renamed them to get around the lore tag.

Quick question on the LDoNs.... I just finally was able to take my box crew to a DoN last night, and found that the level caps out for a level 70-ish instance, meaning it was pretty much a cake-walk. Do the LDoNs keep scaling up in level, or do they cap out for level 65s (the highest level when they came out)?

My understanding is they have done nothing with/to LDoN since it was the current expac. So I am pretty sure that 65 is the hardest it gets level wise.

Edit: posts below update that SOE upped the level of access beyond 70 in LDoN.

The only thing they did was up the level cap on them so you could get them at 70. Beyond that, they've been pretty much untouched. One of the reasons is that the task system is different for LDoN than the ones they put in for DoN, so it's less scalable and less flexible.

That's too bad that they didn't keep them scaling with the rising level cap, for those of us who really didn't get to see them when they were current.

Yes, I know I can shroud, to make them a challenge, but I can't shroud to a druid (that I know of), so I can't shroud as my native class.

I have never had as much fun as LDoN. I got nine people at work to play EQ because of this one expansion. Jump on EQ, /LFG, magus port, go!

Mob level has been unchanged since the inception of LDoN, but access level has continued to rise upto SoD expansion, where it topped out at 82 average group level, with slightly greater than 10 level span at those levels. I haven't tried raids lately to know if the average raid level is capped or not, nor what the exact raid level span limit is. As far as the OP question, I don't really have any preferences for new, never used hot zones, however, the idea of using instances, I wouldn't mind seeing the GoD Sewers instances hot. They're kinda rough, even today, but I remember how exciting they were back in the day, when they were new. And there is some descent drops there, and can be done solo (no need for more than one person in the expedition).

hotzones that do not require a ton of running would be great, lol I have sat internet and zoning really sucks. they wanted 3k to run fiber optics out to my house.
