Resetting Map & Old SebilisFollow

Me again :)

Ok, so after becoming a bit more comfortable with being back in EQ after many years away, I decide to try to get the Hierophants Cloak from one of the mobs in Old Sebilis. I think I was only there once back in the day with my guild.

I used a combination of a zone map and the in game map to find my way to Trakanon's Teeth. Along the way I was checking out the options for the in game map and apparently messed up something because now all it shows is a blank map and where I'm at moves with my cursor. Arrggghhhh! This is especially frustrating as I *think* I've found the ruins of Old Sebilis, but can't figure out where the entrance is.

Is there a way to reset the map? I tried Googling it and looking through these forums. I also camped out and logged back in hoping that would bring the map back, but it didn't.

Second - where in the heck is the zone in to Old Sebilis? The ruins (if the zone is in within them) are like a maze. I did find a ramp down into some room, but it didn't seem to zone into anywhere.

I'm a level 61 Druid (almost dropped back to a 60 after dying by being attacked by some vicious light blue cons) so not sure if I will be able to solo Old Sebilis, but thought I'd give it a try.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist this "oldbie" who now feels like a "newbie."

Make sure Height Filter is not pushed in; Make sure Layers 1, 2, and 3 are all enabled; By default on TT map, the Undead area is lined in White, so you'll have to let the map fade out (Right-Click map window, and follow the menus to Fade and select it, and set the Fade level to something low around 10-20%).

Depending on your UI, you may have a change background button on your map to allow you to have a black background map without fading out, to see the map better.

These are the most common problems. If none help, reply with what happened if any thing.

Hope this fixes it,

EDIT: #2: Follow the ramp down, click on the spherical thing at the bottom. If you can't find the ramp down again, go to the South edge of the Undead area and follow it East until it bows out. At or near the maximum bow out, is an opening to a room to North, go into it, then head East again, and the Ramp should be right in front of you.

EDIT: Post on how to find the exits in Seb, since they're not the same as the entrance:

Agree with what Uther said on the map!

I still think map wise you can't beat the old eqatlas ones for the old zones. You can still find them here if you want them:

Thank you for that excellent, detailed help. I really appreciate it. :) When I entered EQ today my map was displaying properly again so it must have either been a glitch or "reset" itself when I was logged out for awhile.

UPDATE: The map works everywhere except Trakanon. That was where I was when I noticed the Map Tools and began experimenting with them. I recall clicking on Start Line, End Line, Remove. I'm sure I didn't select Clear Map but apparently in fooling around with the other settings, I managed to wipe out the Trakanon map. Is there any way to set it back to default? (Tried Googling and researching on forums but didn't find anything.)

I appreciate the info on map settings and set it just as you indicated, including making the background color black. I had no idea about the undead issue, so I have the fade set there as well.

Thank you for the info on how to get into the Old Sebilis zone. I would really like the Hierophant's cloak, but, as a Druid, I'm always uneasy in indoor places AND with at least one mob there that summons - I still have nightmares about being summoned in the old days. I have the Expel Summoned spell that I've never used, but I'm going to keep it up and hope it works.

If all else fails, I'll just go to Cobalt Scar and farm gems so I can buy the cloak...lol.

Thank you for that link, egnaro. I totally relied on that map back in the day, but forgot about it until you pointed me to it. :)

Go to mapfiend.com and download the map package (or you can get teh single Trackano's Teeth map if you perfer). Unzip it into your EQ/maps folder and overwrite the one that's there.

Thank you so much, amastropolo & Grove! I'd been to that website to try to find my way around using the map for Trakanon on that site while playing EQ but had no idea they could be downloaded into EQ. I later discovered the Jagged Pine Forest map wasn't showing in EQ either so I am very excited to have this info.
