My keyboard is perfectly working outside of Eq. Once I am in the key board goes crazy. Press z and it shows a number or it has me jumping as if it was the space bar. Hit a hot key and it does something else. Right now I am stuck in walk mode. Even pressing run with the mouse doesnt change it.

I should mention I can get a normal response for a few key strokes after loggin into game.

Did you check to make sure your keybinding setup didn't get completely FUBAR'd?

I remember something about certain drivers ******** with in-game functions, but that was years ago.

What kind of keyboard is it and are you running any type of keyboard profile software? Like the software that comes with the G-series keyboards?

Went into eq folder, deleted the file marked keyboard, deleted my options. Redid full scan. Keys worked as pressed for about 3 min. Then went all screwy again. Press z key and got 3 different responses. Press M key get my inventory, or tracking or autocombat.

Try deleting the files again and see if that fixes it again.

Are you using a PS2 or USB board?

It sounds like a PS2 socket/plug going bad but since it's only affecting the game that's not it.

Might want to check the forums to see if anyone is having the same problem. If not, it's probably something on your system not liking EQ, or at least whatever security measures they added. You can try shutting down your firewall and AV to see if that helps, but I doubt it'll do anything and I don't recommend leaving them down any longer than a few minutes.

I have this exact same problem, I am using a USB keyboard. When i first get in game everthing is fine. after a minute or two no matter what key i press it comes out a number. So in stead of typing Hello in the /say it will come out something like 2947925
and if I am not in the communications box it will activate hot keys and try and do actions.

This started the day before the shutdown. I have completely rebuilt this pc (desktop) and download the client today. So there are no old files on it to mess with the game.

Any thoughts?

He is using Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse 310 Laser combo. I'm in process of upgrading his Logitech drivers, as it seems he still had old drivers that ay have been part of the problem. then I suspect it may be problem that Microsoft has with allowing the wireless drivers to override certain keys or whatever he found out from the site he linked.

I would suggest he also cross post this in the technical forum, since so far using his account the problem wasn't showing up there. I log on to see if I could find posts on issue using premium account features.

I've seen problems with the Logitech setpoint software having problems with the generic mouse buttons, but never with a keyboard to that scale, which is why I asked if their was any keyboard profiling software.

This problem is one of those that are difficult to diagnose remotely since it's such an odd one. Aside from updating your drivers, Sony is probably the only one that would be able to pinpoint the problem.

New download did not work. Loading game with no firewall up did not work. Still no word from Sony tech support. At least my post count is going up.

What a drag Jonwin...

I don't think I am having keyboard issues (as others have reported aside from Jonwin) but I haven't really been on of late to be certain.

Hopefully it clears up sooner than later.

Jonwin, I am confused you posted the link but did not say if you had disabled the Infrared Transciever ?

Over all the years that weird keyboard stuff has come up, that has always been the number one answer.

Are you using an AMD dual-core? Also, is your character running normally? Does it appear to be skipping, gliding, or are its legs moving a lot quicker than you're actually moving?

Heard back from sony tech. Sent them my dxdiag file and msinfo. Lets see what happens now.
Egnaro, yes I had. I removed the info for the cordless key board, and set up an older one. I still had the problem.

Raolan character was moving normally except for the one time the walk key was pressed in random. No skipping of images or scenery.

I just figured this out on my system. Take a look and see if you have a program called secure guard by Comcast. It is part of their protection suite. go to start.. run.. and type msconfig. Look at your start-up tab. See if you have an entry called GID desktop. disable that and it should fix it. I still had a few small issues after that So I just went and uninstalled the Secure Guard protection suite via the control panel .. add/ remove programs. Rebooted logged into the game and I am back to normal no more problems.

Hope this helps.

Darkday, Yes I just got secure guard from comcast. Was thinking that may be the problem but didnt know where to look. Will do so now.

Back from checking, there is a gidd file (small letters) is that the one?

I really dont want to remove the security package hope I can fix it without.

yep that is it. once i removed it everything is working normal. I left nortons on from Comcast and just got ride of secure guard.

I have been playing since my post with the secure guard solution and have been absolutely fine since then.

It was the program. I deleted the secure guard and keyboard is acting fine.

I had trouble disabling only the gidd file. Sent comp into safe mode and couldnt load game. Will try a custom reinstall of program to omit the gidd issue.

BTW Sony was stumped. The IT tech actually linked the zam tech support forum where I was talking about the problem.
