Sony Offline Until End of MayFollow

I discovered that I had changed my email notifications to a newer email address. When I checked my lesser used email address, I discovered an email from SoE dated 5/3/11. By the way, SoE sent the email not to my primary email address, but to a back-up email that I don't even remember giving them (and can't log on in order to confirm this).

How are they gonna take your gear when no one can log in.

No I don't mean anyone stealing it but who knows what damage was done when the hackers went in? Problem is we don't know and may never know. Maybe their primary focus was to steal account information but who knows what else was affected? Just saying . . .

Since the hacking occurred somewhere around the 17th and we continued to play for two weeks after the fact, I doubt there's going to be any stripped characters.

They got into Subscription database not game databases which probably had better security. And what are they suppose to update us with more then what they are? Once a day saying servers arent coming back up today and a end of may timeline for return to online gaming is good enough for me. I found other things to do to keep me occupied while i can't play. I know some of you personally are concerned with identity theft etc but i personally dont care cause my credit isnt the best to begin with and i dont have any extra cash to steal :P

I was playing close to the time that the servers were taken off-line... the possibility of character/account damage is not to be taken too lightly... when I was logging out (with the yellow "the servers will come down in 6 minutes..." ringing in my eyes) I noted that my account indicated I was missing the last two update packages... which is interesting because when I came back I spent the $90 to get the House of Thule deluxe package direct from Sony... (I wanted the 0.1 weight 100% WR bags for my monk) ... so, it would not hurt to see if you can identify anything "missing" when the servers go live again...

As to being able to track what you have, one of the ways (for the future) is to put most of the cash into the shared bank after each day and only keep on the alt/main the same amount (say 2K PP even) for pocket change (and funding the Mercs) then, if and when this happens again, you will be in a better spot to know if you lost something...

May 31st has been reported as not accurate.

Source where it was reported as "not accurate", because I haven't seen the EoM claim officially refuted anywhere?

I have seen lots of people on lots of forums saying EoM is not accurate for over a week now.

Guess what it's now the 12th.

PlayStation made a statement that it would be "a few more days" today. So maybe it will be by the 20th or so?

There has been NO WORD however officially that REFUTES the end of the month statement. There have not been any statements confirming EoM either. These are two completely different things. I don't know where Warwick Ashford, who made the original EoM claim in a computer weekly article got the EoM information, but I doubt he just made it up.

How some people think it's going to be earlier than EoM confuses me. Do you realize the FBI is involved now? You think the FBI gives two ****** about when SOE goes back online and people get back to their video games? You think the FBI guys are "working round the clock" to bust this critical tragic video game case? LOL - I sure don't. They'll finish the investigation when they finish it, I think we will be lucky to get things back by the end of the month.

Hi..:)

I honestly don't think (Still wish the hackers would get a life though) and by what has been reported they never touched the game itself but hacked for players personal information. And since the game is down they can't log in to do anything with items etc.

They can once the game comes up hence why Sony has stated to change ones password as soon as the game is up and running.

I dont think anyone has a glimmer of when the game will be back up-it WILL be back up eventually !
Sony generally cant even tell us how long a patch is gonna take so my guess is its gonna take a long time on this.
MY MAIN CONCERN is missing gear and such and how that is gonna be handled.

I wondered about the gear also. No one knows exactly what damage was done to the site and there's no way I remember how much plat I had spread out over 8 toons nor the equipment on each.

The night before the servers were taken offline, we were having trouble in the zone "Fear Itself". Periodically, we'd be thrown across the zone. We though it was a bug since it happened to several of our group so we all logged hoping to rid ourselves of this bug. It didn't help - the anomaly still occurred and finally on the last one - I died. I did submit a bug report but in light of what happened the next day - it is nothing.

Also I did receive a generic message from SoE regarding possible information theft but that is the only email I received.

Lets face the fact that we dont know if they got into our in game chars stuff or not.
IN fact we know darn little about anything except the game isnt up!
I have so many chars on two accounts that heck I wont be able to remember what a lot of the gear was-I can aways farm more plat if they took anything hope that its that. As far as the credit card stuff I took care of that almost immediatly.
Hurray for the FBI-they dont forgive-they dont forget-they are legion- and they never give up(remind you of anyone hehe).
Hope everyone of the hackers get jail time!
