House of Thule: To buy or not buyFollow

#1 May 05 2011 at 2:39 AM Rating: Decent
Hello everyone :)
I'm a returning player to EQ, been about 9 years and am slowly getting back into the game. I bought the package that gave me all the expacs just up to House of Thule (great buy, btw), but I was wondering if you all thought it might be worth it to buy the new expac now as well?
I mostly ask because of one very important thing: Housing. I played EQ2 for a little bit and loved it, mostly due to the player housing. I have watched a few videos of the houses, and they look surprisingly well done considering the graphic difference between EQ2 and original EQ.
So I guess my question is: Is the player housing enjoyable for those who have done it? If I can place items, put up some trophies, and fulfill the desires of the homemaker in me, I will most likely get it. Just first looking for some opinions from more experienced EQ vets.
Thanks in advance for your advice and opinions!

For many/most the housing is a money sink.

For others, the housing is an opportunity to express artistry and creativity.

The creativity comes in not only arranging the objects you can purchase purposed or crafted for housing, but also seeing what you can do with looted items, displayed as is but also using some visible part to represent another object in your house.

Take a look at the housing section of the Sony forums (when they are back up) to be astonished at the creations of others.

I for one got into housing: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1287677078323072172&page=1 . Yes it is a plat sink but if you don’t get involved in the “marketplace” you can be very creative and only spend Virtual Plat (remember you can’t take it with you). But housing is only one of the many mini games EQ provides. Any item marked “Placeable” which is a ton can be place in your house or on property. Read up on housing but you will find there is a lot of Trial & Error.
Some of the Perks that come with HoT are the backpacks depending on which expansion you buy but the more expensive one comes with a 100% weight reduction 20 slot pack plus a 16 slot bag and 2 mounts. The less expensive one comes with the 16 slot and 1 mount. Also the opportunity to make an array of 14 slot 100% weight reduction bags (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=92122 (just one example of the many bags). But you can purchase the 12 slot base bag from crafters in Bazaar but need HoT to burn the scroll to convert to 14 slot bag.
Besides Sunrise hills (housing) all the content is level 80+ https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/eq%3AHouse_of_Thule_Overview .
