bored on Vula'Aerr TLP?Follow

Playing on the Time Locked Progression servers and tired of waiting for Kunark to open?
Tired of the bottle neck that (right now) is Classic EQ? Tired of some of the other problems that are persisting? (spell research, armor quests, nameds not popping or dropping gear)
There is a solution I would like to put forth here and it wouldn’t involve starting new characters.
Using the /testcopy function characters are copied (but not moved or transferred) to the Test server just as they are when you type it. All the time and effort you’ve spent already building and gearing that character doesn’t have to be squandered in the process.
For those interested we could start a guild there and start grouping/questing/raiding in Kunark
RIGHT NOW and not be dealing with the hassle of the possibly longer than two month wait.
The only real drawback right now is that Fabled mobs are spawning so that could make it hard to camp certain nameds but if the people who are interested come and work together we can overcome that as well. Myself or someone else is sure to have a higher level character they could /testcopy over to help clear out Fabled mobs but I’d rather not resort to such measures.
Some other perks that would be considered and maybe put to a guild vote would be:
Use of the Plane of Knowledge for travel for grouping and whatnot.
This would include use of the Guild Lobby and Bank
Some of the perks of playing on the Test server in general include:
All expansions free (only on Test)
Double regular exp
All veteran awards for all characters
The /testbuff option, which makes your character instantly level 25 with all spells and nontrade skills maxed and some decent no drop gear (but not on the level with defiant gear) –Its use would be discouraged for our purposes
Low server population so little competition for nameds, however getting raid targets can be difficult sometimes because higher levels can slaughter them at will but is that really any different than the competition we face on the regular TLP servers now? The Test community is a good community and by and large if we are respectful and considerate to them they will be that way to us
Some rough ground rules:
All classes/races
Level cap of 60 (just like it was in Kunark)
NO MERCS or DEFIANT GEAR and no gear that drops in a zone beyond Kunark.
Gear from the revamped zones, such as CT and Temple of Droga, etc are ok because they drop in zones we're in and I'm not into micromanagment. Hot zone loots are ok too. Be as much of a purist as you want or twink yourself silly. Its up to you.
I’m not going to try to regulate the rules by spying on people or whatever. If I see it and its blatant I will take steps but otherwise I’m just going to play and have fun, the same thing I expect anyone else who comes to the Test server to do.
I’m sure I haven’t covered all angles or potential issues but here is my idea warts and all.
I’m not even sure what to name the guild…
Try it and if you like it play. If you don’t, then leave. No hard feelings! Just don’t cause grief while you’re with us.

The guild is made and its called
"Raiders of Old Sebilis"
and my toon there is

Progression guilds have had successful runs on Test in the past. Good luck in your efforts.

I saw a really strong one on a regular server implode when the officers voted to move from 51 cap to 65, they were bored of raiding Naggy and Vox and failed to recognize there was incoming recruits and rising characters that still wanted to do that...

That particular guild probably would have survived if they had kept the grouping range tight (i.e., bump to 55 and do aa for two months, then go to 60 for a longer stretch and raid into luclin, then go to 65 and do PoP).

For arguments sake... I think rolling fresh on Trakanon with your "guild ruleset" is more viable. On test your going to be 60 and aa-ed out pretty quick... so then its just raid? The move all my stuff there temptation isn't there to fracture the guild. From what I hear the Population is very low, so odds are an influx of even 25 players holding at 60 would be very welcome to the higher crowd that is there.

If you roll fresh and "hold at 51 for 2 months or 20 different guildies at 51 whichever comes first" you give your casuals time to match your 5-days intense players (who had can grind up some aa instead of doing nothing), raiding Naggy and Vox as soon as you can. Bump up to 60 after that, since slow levelling 51-60 people would be easy to support in a 60 group.

A third option that I find intriguing... Fironia Vie server. Moving all your stuff is possible... but it's a one-way trip.

One small fallacy is that the folks on progression server are getting bored waiting for Kunark. Yes i grant some may, but how many really.

Good idea but given the lack of response it seems people would rather just stick it out and keep playing on the TLP servers. I myself have started a few alts and am having a good time. The Test server was a great place to play and I log into it once in awhile.

Oh gods, I have enough to do on Vulak between alts and levelling my mains to cap, farming, tradeskills, etc that I actually feel the opposite of bored. I feel overworked! lol

But if you go for this, good luck!

I'm loving the game on this server and do not feel bored in the least. Now I want to log in and play again.
