So i found a few different posts for an Everquest progression server leveling guide and i figured It'd be helpful to quite a few people if i reposted it here. Below is the link to the guide itself and the two posts I found of it. Hopefully you guys enjoy it! =D

The post is interesting, but it's not quite as advertised so to speak...

It's an old guide that just hasn't been updated over the years. TLP isn't necessarily true to old:

Quote:
"Levels 20-35 High Hold Keep - Fantastic exp. and ok loot here. A group of 6 can handle all the spawns in the large open room and the spawns from the side room (lookout room). You can ding a level every 5 hours of play here with a good group."

Group xp in that camp is much faster on TLP from all reports I have gotten (I'm allied with runnyeye atm, so didn't bug them myself).

The simple guide (without using a guide) is: Look at your home city, by original design outside of it will be your lowbie zone, attached to that your midrange zone and likely first dungeon, farthest off will be your 30+ levelling options.

So.. Freeport (and the city yard) > commons> befallen> kithicor. To be more efficient, you'd consider going the other side of freeport to the Ro deserts.

If your "home" zone for that range is too busy, jump on someone else's. Erudites got Warrens and Hole (and Stonebrunt.. out of order really) added later to make it match up better on a continent basis.

I've been debating starting a thread on this for a while... and typing this has helped me frame the context. What I don't like about the linked posts is I'd rather just hear about what people have actually been doing and having success with on TLP. Camps that seemed reasonable back in the day may not be so now.

Also, you've given 3 links to the same thing... crosslinked to itself on some of those links.

"I" personally didn't make the guide, i just found it on those forums that i regularly browse so im the wrong person to talk to about it being out of date or not 100% up to date haha. I just figured it helped me figure out what zones are for what level range so maybe it will help someone else. I didn't look too indepth with it and actually read descriptions for said zones, i just more or less looked at the zones available for me in said level range =P

I think he knows you didn't make the guide, but was saying your description was just a bit off from what actually appeared in the guide. That is, it's a "classic" guide rather than a "progression" server guide. :-P

Aye...

I mentioned the multiple links thing because some posters here don't like seeing that.

The guide you linked is interesting to look at and think about. Thanks for sharing it.

The BEST advice by far to give to anyone seeking to level on progression servers is TO GROUP. The group XP bonus here has to be higher than on regular servers. I've been levelling an alt and I discovered that the most XP the alt can get solo, even killing red mobs (with the help of HP buffs, DS and a high level druid healing) is under 3.0%. Stick the alt in a group, anything from a duo to a full 6-person group, kill the same mobs, and my alt still gets between 2.2 and 2.8% XP. Since the group kills MUCH faster and has almost no downtime, it's far far faster to XP in a group. This is true even for PLers. The only exception would be hard-core PLing where the PLer pulls a whole zone, aggros all the mobs, beats them down with the damage shield and the PLee casts some kind of low-level aoe damage spell to get credit for all the kills when the mobs die to the PLer's DS. But given the density of players on the progression servers this kind of massive pulling of a whole zone is not "playing nice."

It surprises me how rarely people ask my duos (presently Mage / Mage) if they can join.

90% of the time if I ask someone nearby if they'd like to join up, they're super eager to join up and everything goes swimmingly. People, if you see others hunting and it's not a full group, just ask to join! Unless they're camping a rare drop it's probably a win-win for everyone involved.

Heck, I don't even care if they're underlevelled. On one duo, at level 18 camping Greater Lavaspinners in (where else) Lavastorm, I invited a 13 Necromancer who was having issues soloing the drakes. He was obviously limited in how much he could contribute but with the xp cap it wasn't like he was taking away from my xp by being there, and in fact only sped it up since his lifetaps were able to land despite a 7'ish level gap between him and the mobs.

Group Group Group.

My personal levelling guide (2x Dark Elf Magicians, sometimes grouped mostly not) has gone...

1-2 Nektulos yard trash outside Neriak.
3-6 Nektulos south of Neriak, tree snakes / black bears / skeletons / etc.
7-10 Nektulos at CL undead pillar, or orc groups.
11-14 Lavastorm Fire Drakes / Imps / Lesser Lavaspinners
15-17 Lavastorm Fire Elementals (made about 300 plat just selling Forged Firebrand weapons from the quest)
18-20 Lavastorm Greater Lavaspinners
21-26 Unrest in a group, top floor, then moved to basement, hella fast xp and loot galore
27-30 Splitpaw as a duo and about a level in HHK basement

Total platinum made: Probably about 2,000, just from vendor trash. Some of it went to researched spells. I spent a little while in Mistmoore and HHP, but only a little. So far it's going super fast, and I'm having a blast. Also spent a lot of time camping gear (FBRs, TwSRs, PBBs, etc.)

Does anyone know of a up-to-date forum concerning the progression server?

I am thinking of checking it out but have some inquiries about things like racial xp bonus/penalties (do they apply again?) where am I most likely to find other players (Iv'e got some ideas, played since kunark came out). any info regarding where I can read up on the progression would be great.

I'm more then likely re-subing soon as the servers are back up(hopefully they will toss us resubbers some free game time too). can't make up my mind if I am going to go back to my 80 cleric or 78 BST on Erollisi or relive the past for a bit.

Aside from here (TLP is more than half of the last 2 pages of general forum postings) this was suggested some other forum .

The o-boards are actually pretty good for TLP, but of course you can't get into them at the moment.
