Hi Guys,

I am currently a third year psychology student at Nottingham Trent my third year project is on the topic of 'Trolling' in online gaming, its the first of its kind in this specific field so has potential to be published! For this i need as many online gamers to complete it as possible

Trolling refers to online abuse through games such as audio abuse, text abuse etc also using hacks or generally annoying others who are playing the same game!

Maybe it's just me... but I won't click on links from posters with newbie post counts. Also, when it's a study about gaming and the poster has a newb count it says to me "outsider looking to paint a picture of gamers for their own gain".

If Jophiel (or any other guru red-titled person) was asking us to do this I would have no problem and would willingly participate. I would believe that the study was mutually beneficial (gamers and the author).

Am I being unreasonable?

No snailish you are not being unreasonable. I sometimes look at surveys, rarely participate. It depends on the wording and perceived bias.

Yeah thats fair enough i have received that kind of reply from many forums i have this posted on 26 now and still not got the numbers i could get just for this fact! I can assure you it is legit if you have any questions you can e-mail my supervisor at my university (Mark Griffiths) Thanks for your time!

Your definition of "trolling" is too broad, and your questions are too general. They fail to mention or elicit the occasions, if any, when "trolling" occurs.
