I followed the link in the news https://everquest.allakhazam.com/story.html?story=25092 3k+ people have watched parts ot this. I took notes (much of this already said on O-forum):

-XP curve will be modern (no hell levels) but significantly turned down. It was hinted that you'll really start to feel it after level 5.

-they've worked for months taking innapropriate things out of the old zones

-in game maps are not tied to an expansion. Will be active at launch.

-New Freeport is in.

-Hole, Cazic Thule, Splitpaw, etc. will be pre-revamp mode as they did not their geometry changed. Splitpaw will actually be its 2nd incarnation as a mid level zone rather than the short-lived time it was a low-level zone in the middle of a teen+ area. Revamps will occur with the Xpac that corresponds in general.

-Warrens will be in at launch, Stonebrunt is tied to LoY, Jagged Pine they said is tied to PoP, and Nedaria GoD.

-melody will be in at launch.

-modern spell level data will be used (not every 4 levels for new spells).

-voting system is a new thing (not the current login polls) it is just getting used first on Fippy. Looks like level 30 on Fippy will be a requirement to get to vote. This level may rise as xpacs are unlocked.

-No tutorial until appropriate xpac is unlocked (they didn't say which one that actually is).

-classes and races are tied to their respective xpacs. Exception is halfling ranger, etc. that were just added in. Those will be available at launch.

-server wide 1st kills will be announced.

-rare items (manastone was mentioned but not directly confirmed) will be in for a short time. Not all of them. Expect some busy camps while people seek these out.

-boats and translocators will both be in, as applicable. Reason cited was boats are "still flaky".

-Models in the world will be current. Players always have the choice of models for player characters.

-race/class penalities will still be gone.

-soulbinders will still be in cities. This feature was added for player convienience as begging for binds was deemed not fun.

-any feature connected to an expansion will remain so (i.e., bandolier, extended target window, etc.). However, they hinted that the voting mechanism could allow for breaking of this "rule".

-corpse runs will only be for xp to start. This is expected to be the first vote: "Do the Fippy players want to reinstate original corpse runs. 7 days items lost would be the reinstatement, no shadowrest."

-monk fist ratio will be current as this is a global file.

-spells will be current power (they were improved at lower level some time ago)

-melee augments will remain, they implied that this was due to the spells (mentioned above).

-tradeskill stuff will be tied to the expansions it became available with. They didn't get as specific as some of the O-board posts.

-defiant won't come in until TSS at least.

-Hotzones won't come in until they came in (at least after OoW to my memory?)

-ooc regen is disabled until TSS

-all inactive accounts in good standing have been given 10 days free. Fippy launch is in the middle of the free window.

Questions I am left with: (maybe previous progression people or more dedicated O-board followers could answer?)

-Are the newbie armor quests going to be active? They were added piecemeal over a long period of time to my memory, and pretty sure after Kunark at least. Last time I played, some of them still didn't work (the last-added froglok evil gear several years after that change).

-Are spells going to be tied to the expansions they were released with? Just going through necromancer spells 1-50 there is a significant number that were Kunark (quite a few), Velious (couple), Luclin (the pet hastes, etc). They already said current research system is in play and have added those drops retroactively into original content to support the system. Obviously the convienent PoK/Abysmal Sea purchasing is not there... but some spells seemed to have been added to East Freeport, etc. much later.

I can see them taking them off the vendors. I don't mind if they disable the recipes. The difference for me is I will do research (despite hating it)if it means I can have some of those useful spells (the undead slow...). If my only benefit from research is the pet spells... I'll pony up and pay someone else.
