Using Adblock Plus with Firefox, I have successfully blocked all of the spam that "Zam" has imposed upon us.
Today, I see a new image where the blocked spam was.

So I just blocked that as well. I would rather see empty black spots versus the spam.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it Zam.
P.S. Ever since the site changed from the old template, this site has been going down hill. I for one will never pay again, there was once a time when it was primarily paid for by loyal users.

Um. I'm a paying customer.. and I have yet to see any ads. None. I don't even see the black box you linked to.. The only time I see any ads is when I have to reload my browser and I haven't logged in yet. Sorry to hear you're having problems. :(
Edit to add: I use AdBlock Plus as well and I don't see any ads either.

No Amas, Sparx is right, non premium users get adverts where you get pictures.

I see an Underfoot theme when logged in. When logged out, I see ads.

I just recently picked up premium again. Before paying I still saw the pictures he is talking about...and the adds. Once I got my premium and logged back in same picture is there, it's just the adds that are gone.
Imagine your playing EQ and you go to loot a corpse and there is loot that is labeled Quest. You go to Zam to see what quest it is for but Zam doesn't load. You google the item and you see links to the quests but all the links go to Zam but again, Zam isn't loading. Turns out Zam is gone and all the information in their database and forums you ever had access to is gone, forever. Zam disappeared because they couldn't afford to run the site with people not paying for the service and because people were using ad blockers so they were losing ad revenue.
This is why I pay; I visit every day and they make my EQ experience more enjoyable. Maybe I don't like all of their site changes but they still have the info I need and that is most important to me. I can't vote with my wallet because there is no comparable alternative out there and nobody is making another Zam because there is not very much money in it; if I decide not to pay and not to view the ads I might lose everything. They are putting more ads on likely because they need more $$ because hosting, staff, and bandwidth cost money and the paying player base is likely declining. When I am not logged in sometimes I click on the ads to give them a little boost in revenue. I like updates and I want this site to be around at least until they pull the plug on EQ for good.

I am just glad that Zam/Allakhazam is still around and updating info as each new expansion is released and experienced.There is simply no other EQ site in its class. Someone has to pay the bills and as the player base(EQ1) declined over the years there was a need for some advertising to keep the standards that we are all accustomed to up. As said above, once you are a premium customer there is no advertisements visible unless your computer has some adware on it.
If I didn't have ZAM...formerly known as Allakhazam - I wouldn't play EQ. I couldn't play EQ. There used to be MANY EQ sites around.
