After 5 Years I'm thinking of returning? Is it worth it?Follow

Having been one of the original players since day 1 I quit EQ about in 2006....I wondering how many servers are left and how many people actually play....I use to have 4 accounts and would 4 box my own groups...I believe I have about 8 classes level 70....is it even worth it anymore? And what class is the most desired now for groups? Chanters?
I think I will reactivate 1 account maybe the one with the necro...that one seemed to solo the best...
Please let me know if its even worth it..

Thanks

I"d say it's definitely worth it.

While the player count is down (10 servers vs 20), there's still a lot going on.

I'd suggest playing whichever class you enjoy.

Whenever somebody asks 'is it worth it', the answer is invariably no.

Probably. It is much easier to level up/catch up then it used to be. Lots of group content (though I will always prefer raiding).

I say yes!!!!!!! One of my acct is 12.5 yrs old (that is what I read!!), and I am an addict!. The game grows, changes, and reverberates friendship for players who ask/share. Guild up, group up and have a great time. My sister got me into that game and I never have looked back. EQ is a game that was a inovator.......now it is a staple for many.

That is my feeling friend. Best of luck

You can definitely advance quite quickly as you already have an army of characters at 70 which is a good point to take off from . If you group mainly (esp. below lvl 75 )the key is to join one of the active guilds which are "heavy on returning players". Most servers have 1-2 guilds of that type on them . Also ,do not join any special rule set server(ZEK or FV ) unless you have friends on the server already as those servers have the lowest populations and have uncertain futures as they usually do not allow transfers off of them. All other standard servers have decent populations . The EQ of today is more densely populated around LvL 80-85 (90 with HOT release) so until that range guild is the main way to find groups. The exception to the rule is Hotzones which still has spontaneous pick up groups (PUGS),just go to the hotzone and ask for group in /ooc. Usually ,you would get a reply in the affirmative.

A friend and I quit around the same time as you and came back about a year ago. We copied characters over to test server for the double xp. With our three acounts plus mercs to fill out a group we went through almost all of the Buried Sea expansion and a little more than half of Seeds of Destruction, with forays into Secrets of Faydwer expansion.

There is tons of new stuff and it took us a while to figure out new armor and weapon upgrades along with power sources and aa's. We are not raiders and mostly just played a few times a week together and enjoyed every minute of it. We mostly focused on a bunch of quests from the different expansions and had a hell of a time venturing into zones we never had the power to fully experience before.

Definately worth coming back and trying out. Don't get frustrated in your first week or two back. Just ask a bunch of questions, around fifty percent of the time you will find someone willing and happy to help you out.
