Item Collector?Follow

#1 Oct 01 2010 at 5:57 AM Rating: Decent
Hey there. I recently downloaded the EQ Item Collector (a few days ago). This morning, Zonealarm asked me if I wanted to let backend.exe access to the internet. I googled it and found out it was spyware. I then did a search on my computer for backend.exe and it was located in the same folder as the item collector. Anyone else have this same problem?

Thanks.

Backend is part of PCap that monitors your network stream, Item collector then takes that stream and monitors it for the EQ related portion and extracts the Item and spell information that it can.

Backend by itself is fine, it depends on the other programs that call it whether they are spyware or not. Since you just downloaded item collector, you should be fine. I've actually never seen any spyware that uses it, but I keep software up to monitor spyware installations also.

I'm not familar with that particular program that detected it, but most apps, you can tell them to always allow access. With allowing access, you should be fine, as long as you have software to detect / scan for spyware and do it regularly.

I tried running it as admin, made exceptions in firewall AND windows defender(as it could be classified as spyware) I'm a little at a loss. i would love to contribute to the community, but i cant update lucy properly without gtting this thing up and running. Any awnsers to this?
