I am getting feeble, I guess, I don't remember the trick to attacking the Harpy Nests. I target them, I stuff my face in them, I attack with different weapons, all I can get is the "too far away" message. Yther! Help!

thanks

Harpy nests? I'm guessing in, um, blackfeather?

the more precise you are in your post, the more likely you are to quickly get help.

That said even though I'm not sure what you're talking about, /open is usually a pretty good guess.

Sorry yes, Blackfeather. There's a quest where you need to knock down the nests, /open not being an option. When you bash them enough, mobs come out to play. I was successful at it, when I played years ago. But I guess if you don't know what I am talking about (I know you have been in the game since day-minus 10), then you were probably too high level to have bothered with level 50 mobs in blackfeather when it came out.

Thanks anyway, I will keep trying!

You have to do quests for each one. The first one is https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=3606.

Once you do the quest for the particular ledge / island / whatever, you can then just run on top of the nest and it will port you to the next isle.

If this isn't what you are talking about, then yea, more details would help, and /open is always a good thing to try on objects. However, the nests that port you, don't actually show up on in the target window. And if you haven't done the quest, when you stand on it, you should get an emote about a harpy nearby not allowing you to pass.

LOL, I missed the target again. Those transport nests are nests aren't they! :) I was referring to the Harpy Nests, the little hooches all over the place, sorry, I didn't make that distinction. I did the quests to activate the griffon transport nests all the way to the top. He he, the devil is in the details.

But on a completely different topic, I looks to me like Alla has purged a lot of old information, or maybe archived it, cuz I was not able to find any reference to the quest "Destroy! Knock the Nests Down." I kept notes on this stuff back in the day and so have a record of the dialogues and so forth, but this quest is not in the Blackfeather list, and a search on the words Destroy, etc were unrewarding. I was hoping to find a clue to solve my stupidity in the comments for the quest, which I did NOT keep, unfortunately.

DUH! It just hit me! The notes say here this is a level 60 quest, and since I don't have the level yet on this toon, NOR THE QUEST, that may be why I can't access them. SOE's little way of keeping me outof mischief, eh?

When I get to 60 on this toon, I will revisit the issue. Thanks Yther for breaking me out of my rut!

take care

Who starts the quest? Or just submit the info. :) I never done many quests there, and definitely not that one.

Also, didn't recognize what you were talking about, as those objects don't appear on F8 or Cycle targets keys, you have to actually click on them to see them in the target window. :(

Yea, they're everywhere, and appears you have to have the quest to beat on them.

The harpys in the nests are generally casters so they drop spell making paper . The number in the nests goes up the as you move up via the transporters. The Ornate has the most.

You have to use magic items to hit the nests. Pets work well but give them a magic sword/item.

You do not need a quest to open them BUT it is possible you have to have done the quest one time but I don't think so.

I looks like my pet is on top hitting the nest and if you bash the nest and it opens you will get attacked by all of them.

Pathing is BAD at some nests and they run all over bring back friends- so clear first.

I would not go AFK inside a open nest.

I originally finished this quest with a monk. I found that if you enter the nest and did a series of kicks you were able to break the nest open. A year or two later I brought a ranger through and tried the quest and could not get the nest to open trying with kicks, archery, and spells. I eventually gave up on the quest, having the same problem with finding information on it.

Actually the warning was about the 6 year gap in my postings :-)

That area is light blue still at level 76 and easy to get 10k plat per hour and AA farming.
With LOTS of mobs IF you open the harpy nests. The Lore items sell for 500 to 1000 plat PLUS you might get the Enchanter harpy blade pet focus item.

As I pointed out the harpy and griffons drop lots of spell research and spell making paper items.

The Mage raging servant pet will also open a nest in a flash.

You MIGHT be able to hit the nests will invis.

Necro posts? Is that about the only kind you can make these days?? :)

I found that pets can attack these things, and depending on their powers can open them up, sooner or later. Yes, they spawn harpies when you open them, so there is plenty of that kind of action if you want it.

I too have failed to find any way to attack them with a toon, although once upon a time I was able to.

You get the quest from Lucian there in the graveyard, you need to be level 60. The word path is destroy/interested.

good hunting

It's not such a big deal in the EQ forums since we have so little traffic, but necroposts in more trafficked forums can be quite annoying, especially when followup people don't notice.
