Hello guys,
Ive played eq a long time ago. A lot of things changed since planes of power^^. But me and my friend want to start eq again. We are sure that we want a healer so one of us is a druid/shaman. My first idea was druid/nec, both of them realy good at solo so its an effective team or am i wrong? And stack nec/druid dots? A other idea is Wiz/druid, quad, slow, ae. A good combination?
I read that we can hire a tank and a healer now, do you think two mercs are a good application for us? Maybe you have other ideas for us. We aren't the greatest team players so its important that the classes work together.
thanks for the comments and ideas.

In my opinion the biggest three things that changed since PoP was the addition of mercenaries, the addition of random drop 'defiant' gear which makes all other gear trash in comparison, and the shockingly quick leveling rate.

While I still haven't used a merc (outside of the test server), I am pretty sure from reading the forums that up to at least level 65 or 70, it just isn't going to matter what classes you pair up because you can always use a merc to tank or heal. Hopefully someone that plays end game content can post some suggestions on class combos for you since getting to level 70 isn't going to take you long at all these days.

Welcome back as well!

It really depends on what you want to do.

If all you wish to do is duo and kite stuff around, then yeah a couple of casters will be fine.

If you want to try and advance thru the Group progression of the latest expansion (UF, soon to be HoT) then you will need to have an actually tank.

Stacking merc clerics works very well, but the merc tank falls off quite a bit at the top end. They were recently boosted a tiny bit, but it's a vast difference still between the merc tank and a player tank at the top end of group content.

Plus with a player tank you can both run cleric merc's to add more healing.

Most of the group content these days can be done in a duo setup with merc's it just takes a bit longer.

Necro or Shaman would make a very fine choice to add with any of the tank's.

Now if you do both still prefer to be casters then you'll be much better off going with at least 1 Mage and let the pet tank. Necro / Mage would be a fine example and with 2 cleric merc's and the proper AA's / Pet Focus you could still do quite a lot of top end group content with just the two of you. You would have Puller(necro), Tank(Mage pet), Healers(merc's) all covered, which are the only essentials to succeeded in the game these days.
