Good morning folks, this is the weekend update.

Today I cancelled my Everquest account.

I haven't played EQ in more than a year, the guys I regularly played with have left long time ago. I thought that this day would never come. I thought that I would play EQ until they pull the plug.

Things have changed, priorities have changed. The "need to play EQ" that I had experienced for years is gone.

In March 2010, our son was born, the most adorable baby on earth. I am looking forward so much to seeing him grow up. I'm not leaving because of him, but his arrival is another piece of the puzzle. "Real life" caught me.

My account was active since March 7th, 2001, the first day I entered Norrath. It was an awesome time. I met great people, I had great moments in game and I enjoyed lurking in this forum so much. But time has come for me to move on, and so I will.

Maybe I will come back some day, maybe I won't - I honestly don't know. I wish you all the best, and hopefully you will continue having a great time playing the greatest computer game ever.

Take care and cheers, Thomas (bbot)

My first day in Norrath was Oct 12 1999. It certainly was an awesome time playing back in the beginning and over the years since. Whether or not you return to the game, you'll never forget the memories you have of the epic journey that Everquest has been.

Where ever life winds up taking you, I wish you the best of luck and happiness!

Take care, man and take care of the family as well. I haven't played EQ in well over a year now (and took breaks in between back from when I started in '99) but it'll always hold some great memories for me. I think that people who got to experience the first couple years of EQ had a chance to be part of a unique experience you'll never see again.

I tried typing something explaining it a few times but... I guess if you were there for it, you know what I'm talking about. It's not that there's not quality MMORPGs made since, but now we "know" too much for the experience to be the same.

I was a 1999 starter and left for a year or so when the shine wore off - renewed last year and I'm loving the game again - leave if you must but NEVER delete your characters so that when the itch starts up you can easily drop back in :) all the best mate and enjoy your family :)

Well, it's sad to see a long-time poster/player leave, but I totally understand. I've been coming and going in EQ for 6-7 years now (but currently playing). The last time I came back to EQ, it was after reading one of the WU's posted by Bbot. It's funny how appealing those threads can be when you've been away.

Anyway, I wish you and your family the best. Safe travels to you.
