EDIT: EQ Alternative Advancement Category of wiki pages is a better and more current list of AAs. The rest of this initial post links to the original AA list which only went upto Seeds of Destruction (SoD) and maybe Underfoot expansions.

I finally got around to doing the AA wiki pages. You can find the basic intro page at httP://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:AA which has links to the https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Alternate_Advancement_-_General, https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Alternate_Advancement_-_Archetype, and https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Alternate_Advancement_-_Class pages similar to the in-game AA window tabs.

Each of those pages, has links in the cost column to AA_Costs_? pages, with a table for the costs, required level, and required expansion for each rank of the specified AA, along with classes this line is available to, what tab it is under, and whether passive or activated along with the activated refresh timer. Moreover, the AA names column, when available has links to the Skills pages discussion.

The AA_Costs_? pages are missing alot of the table data for the individual ranks costs, level requirements, and expansion requirements, which I hope everyone will help fix along the way, as you're buying new AAs, you can fill in the missing data.

What's left? Besides filling in the missing rank data? Well, I still need to make a Special tab page, but am still missing alot of the Progression type AAs. Also, I plan on doing individual class pages, with all that classes AAs listed, and sortable, and specified to certain types, sub-types, and target types.

If you've looked at the EditGrid spreadsheet page, you can see I'm only to the start of the Cs for specifying these types, sub-types, and target types. Feel free to edit that spreadsheet as needed. Try to keep the types, sub-types and target types to the ones I specified in the AA_Costs page. But if you think it absolutely necessary to have another category, it will be fine. Mostly I'm trying to get it so, the Class lists can be viewed by certain types of AA, and the progression order needed or just the most effective.

Thanks, in advance, for any help with the wiki tables and/or spreadhseets.

Edited, Jul 16th 2010 10:13am by Yther EDIT: Thought I had all the links fixed last night, but I must of falling asleep :D

EDIT: Forgot to mention, will be adding Spell links to the Rank row of Activated AAs with known spell ids. Will also be adding the appropriate columns in the original spreadsheet, and when ready, will change / add appropriate wiki conversion formulas to the wiki spreadsheet.

Finally, mostly done with the individual AA pages, but still missing the ones from House of Thule and Veil of Alaris. Over 900 total at the moment and since individual pages, they come up in the site search and the site search box when typing the AA name in.

Thanks so much to goldbishop and Bludwyng for the their help and motivation.

Hopefully, I'll get the individual class AA pages done soon, with sortable lists.

EDIT: A few from my original list, besides the ones from HoT and VoA, missing due to using a macro to upload the last 3/4 and timing on page loading. I should have them up in the next day or so, and fix any that overwrote previous ones (Yay for Wiki History!).

EDIT 2: RL interrupted me this last week. I'll get to fixing the missing ones, and working on the class pages this weekend. Hopefully, I'll get them done over the weekend, as next week will be very busy.

I got all the ones missed by the macro from the original spreadsheet added now. Added a read-only copy of the online spreadsheet at http://www.editgrid.com/user/yther_ore/AA2b -- It's not easy to read, but is just a backup in case the original gets messed up, and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet, as well as a way to compare and verify changes to the original. If you have a spreadsheet program, you can export it, and use the program to make it more viewable.

Also, the read only version, has some rank 36 expansions listed as 1. This is a temporary flag for me for the AAs I've added spell effects to, but haven't updated the wiki pages with yet. I'll remove it as soon as I get those pages updated.

Thanks to all who have been editing the wiki pages and the spreadsheets; it's helping. I try to get any wiki edits on the spreadsheets right away, and the spreadsheet edits on the wiki pages as well. Although I may be a bit slower on that side, as I'll sometimes put off the wiki editing until I have alot of it to do. This is what I'm doing now, as I'm trying to finish the effect links for the activated AAs before I start doing alot of wiki editing again. Almost done, and would have been, if this week hadn't been so busy.

You can add new AAs to the spreadsheet or wiki pages. If you do, just try to be sure to make the first rank expansion required House of Thule (17 on the spreadsheet) or Veil of Alaris (18 on the spreadsheet), so I can be sure it's a new one that I haven't added and can make sure the wiki and spreadsheet are both in sync. Also make sure you get the AA number, from the /alt list command, so as more classes are added we can be sure they're the same AA number. The AA number is the really critical part to include. The expansion just helps me, but the AA number helps everyone!

If you want to do the wikii pages for new AAs, you can use the EQ_AA template which can be viewed at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/Template:EQ_AA and all the wiki AA pages that I have done, use this template, so you can look at any of those for examples.

I think that's about it for updates at the moment.

Again, thanks all who have helped out. This project is finally taking shape! :)

I've been hard at work gathering info on the newest expansion AAs. Had to add a second spreadsheet to be able to make room for 2 notes / rank, and the new ranks (45 or more now on some AAs). I'll post version 3 read only spreadsheets soonish. I'll also try to convert the original spreadsheet to support the extra ranks without adding the 2 notes / rank info.

I've finished an AA Table template at http://eq.zam.com/wiki/Template:EQ_AA_Table to consistantly format each AA, and provide support for 2 note columns, as well as multiple AA prerequisites and other prerequisites such as the Alarian (sp?) Language Skill used in the VoA AAs.

An example is at http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Fundament_(Third_Spire_of_Necromancy) -- I'll be adding a few more, to give examples of using the notes columns. EDIT: Example of a single notes column: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Lay_on_Hands

I've also been working on getting the AAs catergorized, which is taking longer than I expected (such a vast diversity of AAs). I've also been thinking about using more columns on the categories, such as the following:
Active / Passive
Constant / Random (Proc-like)
Spell Focus Type (if any, Hastened Extended Range/Duration, Improved Damage/Healing, etc.)
Melee Focus Type (if any)
Unique (Spell/Discipline Alternative/Replacement vs. Unique vs. maybe some other type)
Effect Keywords (Stun, Snare, Root, Mez, Heal, DD, DoT, etc.) for Active AAs and similar list for Passive AAs

If you have any ideas, I'd be more than happy to consider adding them. Basically, if idea for the categories seems workable and applies to more than just a few AAs, I'll most likely include it, unless the number of columns I need gets too big. So, please post any ideas or ways you think about searching or catergorizing AAs.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, it'll probably be next weekend before I get the new AAs posted to wiki pages, as it takes a while to go through 16 toons and gather the info not included in the /alt list command, such as refresh time, expansion, etc. as well as the spell ids for the activated AAs need looked up.

Thanks again to all who have been updated the AA wiki pages and spreadsheet. I got the newest AAs mostly done. Some still missing Spell Ids for the Effects, either because I forgot to look them up, or couldn't find them. Right now, I'm uploading the pages. Will probably take a few hours.

After that I will upload the version 3 pages to the online spreadsheet and work on getting any of the missing spell id effect and finish categorizing them. Hopefully, I'll have the class pages up in a week or two or three.

I'm seeing some template problems I hadn't noticed before (may only be on single row templates), I'll have to look into. Basically, just alignment of cells, some are vertically centered and some are top aligned.

That's about it for updates at the moment. Thanks again to all who have helped get this project looking so great and being so complete.

EDIT: After some trial and error, I got it working pretty well. Only problem I missed, was a type > than >= in an equation made the spreadsheet skip the last rank on all the new ones. I'll probably just manually enter those. Something else to note, if any come across new AAs for Veil of Alaris and it only shows that expansion for the first rank, you can be assured that is VoA for all expansions, since there aren't any newer ones yet, and can add them in. Lastly, there were 321 new AA pages of 375 total new AAs, and the macro got 309 of them uploaded; I'm working on discovering the missing ones and getting them uploaded. :)

Nice work! Something badly needed. I play multiple classes and I have found NOWHERE on the Internet complete data on all the costs of some of the later AA's. Plus Sony has often changed the costs of older AA's, without much notice so sometimes even established listings of the data have "gone bad."

It's amazing how much of the important information about EQ is just not available easily anywhere. Certainly not in anything that passes for "manuals" from Sony since those have been incomplete and inadequate almost from "day one." I guess the "mystery" and tracking down of the answers is part of the game's "charm".... yet more "quests" of the pursuit of knowledge kind. ;)

Thanks to everyone who has been doing updates. Something to note, that I've noticed is somewhat common, is that when looking at the AA window, the requirements (Level, AA Cost, Expansion, etc.) are for the next rank, not the current one, unless all ranks have been purchased. That is, if the AA window says 0/3, then the requirements are for rank 1, while if it says 1/3, then the requirements are for rank 2, and so on, upto, 3/3 being for rank 3 also, since there aren't any more ranks.

This is just something to be aware of, as it can make editing be off by one rank. This has happened to me as well as others.

I've haven't been working on the categorization much, but plan on getting back to it, and getting the class pages done. I may do some basic pages for each class, before I get done categorizing the AAs, just to get them up, and maybe get some people helping out on the categorizing by allowing them to edit the pages.

The spreadsheets are coming together nicely, and I will upload them this weekend. The second spreadsheet doesn't have any real information on it yet though, as most AAs don't have any HoT or VoA information, other than the first rank if they were new lines to one of those expansions.

Also, this week, I plan on verifying all the current wiki pages and updating those that need it. I'm going to do it manually to double check that everything gets done, and to delete some pages that were made incorrectly due to typos or other such problems.

Some example pages
Bestial Alignment is a good example of using the Notes column(s) as well as images in wiki.

Alternate Names
Invitation of Blood as each rank has a different name displayed.
2 Hand Bash was renamed from Two Hand Bash.
Anatomy was called Physiology for the TSS tab in the old AA window format.
Combat Agility gives multiple names for the various tabs in the old AA window format.

EDIT:Added Class Pages. You can find all groupings at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/Category:EQ_Alternate_Advancement

Or the specific classes directly via:
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Bard_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Beastlord_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Berserker_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Cleric_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Druid_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Enchanter_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Magician_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Monk_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Necromancer_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Paladin_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Ranger_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Rogue_AA

http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Shaman_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Warrior_AA
http://eq.zam.com/wiki/EQ:Wizard_AA

They need a lot of work to be complete, but almost all of the AAs have a Type and Subtype.
