I joined everquest just recently (2 weeks ago) on the 7th hammer server and in contrast to what I had seen when watching friends play years ago, there is no one there. Is this still a viable game for someone who has no friends that play. I have worked up to 15th level and am wondering if I should leave before my 30 days are up. Am I just on the wrong server? The few people I see in the PoK are all 75+ Any advice gratefully accepted

Not sure about 7th Hammer, but in general, all servers are somewhat sparse, especially in PoK. The Guild Hall, and Guild Lobby are were more people hang out now-a-days.

I'd /join general and look for a guild to join, or try the bulletin boards in the Guild Lobby to find a guild. A different server may help too, especially if you don't play normal US time zones prime time.

If you're pretty comforable with the game you may try the Mahong server, but you start at level 51 with 50 AAs on that server, instead of level 1, however it is a newer server and has a descent population (at least time I was on there several months ago).

You might also look back a few pages (months) on this forum for posts about guilds looking for newer players, as there have been several on varying servers.

Hope this helps some, and good luck!

I started a month back on Povar (or Morden Rasp as it once was Smiley: smile).

Restarted would be more accurate I guess as I used to play several expansions ago.

I was in a group once in the tutorial. Otherwise I have mostly been alone in whatever zone I went to apart from social ones like the bazaar , PoK or guild lobby.

All the LFG stuff seems to be at 75+.

Personally I'm fine with this but it is quite empty. If you were looking for a game to group through the levels then I think EQ's day is done.

The exceptions, as Yther said, are the guilds that have been recruiting here. I know that Nostalgists of Norath have been recruiting but that is on a Zek (PvP) server. Glory Days on Stromm also seemed to be active although the concept of harking back to bygone days of a game you are new too may be too strange.

You might have luck finding people in the hotzones: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/EQ:Hotzones

Or do a "/who all 10 20" to search for people at your level and send tells for group.

As someone else mentioned you might live in wrong timezone for 7th hammer. Do you live in US, EU or third?

I hope you haven't given up completely on EQ, and maybe can find a server more fitted to your needs. It is very likely that perhaps your play time doesn't match up or maybe 7th Hammer isn't as populated as some others.

It is very hard to start EQ from scratch these days. It is an old players club for the most part, but a lot of players (like myself) would love to see new players join our ranks.

The best thing you can do is find a family guild to join and make friends on whatever server you pick. When I first began EQ in 2004, I was level 10 when asked to join a guild. I didn't even know what a guild was exactly at the time. I accepted, and it turned out to be some of the best people I will ever have met in EQ. I stayed with them until I got the raid bug, which most of us inevitably do. To this day, I miss them though.

Good luck to you. If you ever stop by the Bertox server, shoot a tell at Azmodian.

Stromm is pretty active.

The Black Dragon Legion is a very active guild who are always recruiting. You'll find help at lower levels; you won't be a lowbie for long anyway.Smiley: nod

Look for Violettafire (GL) or Haemfast (me) for an invite.

Now...get to Stromm and start breaking stuff!!
