Thank Goodness! (sarcasm)Follow

Every year in April, around the time the anniversary events are coming to a close, I await the annual announcement of the newest vet reward--something that caught my attention and actually brought me back to the game when they released the first group of 7 back in 2005. I thought it was a clever way to keep the long term players from continuing to run away, but to give back to those who have been playing and paying for so long.

Well the last 2 years have been less than stellar, giving me the ability to summon a banker and merchant when I can get to them pretty darn fast, but they really topped their folly-cake with this last "reward," a recycled idea that now allows me to summon a merchant that will sell a distiller, as if I couldn't go on with the game long enough to get to the GL to switch out my augs. Honestly, this is what 12 years of subscription fees gets you? How about selling exclusive augments or at least a discount on the distillers??

I would rather have a stupid illusion than be able to summon another type of merchant once a day, specifically for the purpose of changing my augs. What do we get next year, a merchant to sell me basic tradeskill supplies so I don't have to leave my group to work on my jewel crafting? Give me a break.

Not everyone is going to love every vet reward. Some are great and some are not so much. But since they are a free bonus as a thank you, I don't fret it one way or another.

Look at it like this. Imagine you are playing a level 45-50ish character. A non-porter, say you are playing a ranger or paladin. You are far away from any towns, and you are encumbered. You are summoned your first merchant. Well, congratz, you have another merchant. Sure, distillers aren't the best thing to have, but look at it as you can unload all your crap without leaving your camp.

Shoot....I six box on Firiona Vie server. Do you think I want to port 6 toons to PoK and run them all back? Nope, I summon my merchants and get to selling.

So what your saying is it makes it easier for a plat farmer to farm all day and not have to even leave for awhile to bank the loot. I see how that is useful. It's that kind of lazy thinking on SoE's part that leads to most of the "unintended" problems.

Can't tell you the number of times I had to leave my camp to unload all the vendor trash I accumulated.

How many plat farmers have accounts they've been paying for the last many years (what year is the merchant?) Don't plat farmers get banned frequently and have to keep making new accounts?
