Someone needs to be reading Joel Sposky's works, or delving into such books as "Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability." Having a common look and feel across all ZAM sites is a reasonable business decision, but that look and feel should not take several steps backwards in ease of use.

Here are some specifics for me.

Navigation is more difficult now than it was before. I liked the ability to jump wherever I wanted from everything at the left.

I like the fact that the trivia answer is right below the question. Trying to highlight the black patch was wierd. Sometimes it didn't work and other times it highlighted everything in that right bar below it.

When highlighting over an item, it shows everything center justified. I think it used to be left justified. That makes it harder to read.

Clicking on HOME at the top of the page, should take me home. If I wanted to Contact you, I'd click contact you. That shouldn't be an option for the home button.

Clicking on Home >> News takes me to https://everquest.allakhazam.com/news_archives.html If I wanted the news archive, I'd have clicked news archive. Home should always take me to https://everquest.allakhazam.com/ (i.e., home.)

Media Box should be renamed Screen Shot of the Day which is what it appears to be showing.

and pass along the fact there's a poll here, as not everyone who logs into here looks at the forums as much... I know a few that should be interested in adding another 'no' to this poll...

Having a common look, fine. But not when it looks ugly and when majority of your users hate it.

This is what happens when designers and moneymen are put in charge.
R.I.P. and thanks for all the fish.

The new site really sucks, please put it back the way it was.

It was not broke before so I do not understand why you tried to "fix" it.

Funny thing is my premium subscription ran out the same day or very near to it as they changed the page to the new setup...jokes on them i would never pay for it the way it is now.

New site = the SUCK.

Evolution, in this case, is 3 steps backwards.

Not renewing annual subscription if it is still like this.

Poorly designed, bland color scheme, terrible layout, terrible navigation, ridiculously large and useless left and right borders. Did you find some high school intern to do this design? Good grief, people! While the original page might have done with a tiny tweak here and there, the new layout is truly awful, NOT to mention a strain on even young eyes!

funny thing, they asked for our feedback in a different forum... in the Cross site forums - feedback forum... maybe better chance that they'll read this there...

let alone that they also said there they intentionally tried to get all the parts EQ EQII ect... to have the same general format...

TILT
You mean like this thread from early March where a bunch of people discuss problems with it and the Powers That Be say "We're not maing any radical changes but we'll keep this feedback in mind for our next changes"? Back nearly two months before they made the exact same changes to the EQ (and I assume other) style sheets? Or the poll in =4 from that time which had the same 9:1 results as this poll does, showing them nearly two months ago that the changes weren't popular? And the most common "Doesn't bother me" response was really "Doesn't bother me because I'm using the old EQ/FFXI/EQ2/etc style sheet"?

Right. Posting in =3 gets much better results! Thanks, Junior Moderator!

They won't change it back. Not because they're all jerks or whatever but because management and their Corporate Investment Overlords already spent the time and money on the current format and they won't throw away good money after bad. It's more important to someone that all the sites have the same style sheet, even if a lot of users hate it, than to have a more random look. It's boggling to me that they'd take the previous feedback and digest it into "Let's do the exact same thing again!" but that's the corporate landscape for you. There's still reasons I'd want to post here (hence my posting here) but no longer reasons to feel that it's worth paying for the privilege. With AdBlockers there days, the only real reason to keep paying is because you really need the MMO-search features or out of a sense of charity towards the company for keeping you happy.
