Results on EQ Poll?Follow

A few weeks ago EQ asked us for our opinion on what change we would like to see in the game. I have heard rumors of EQ creating a new larger bag with 12 slots. If this is true, 2 more slots will not be of much help to those of us that can't seem to throw anything away. 48 more slots in our bank is not much of an improvement but I guess it's better than no extra space at all.

I wonder... if this happens will it mean that there will be a new recipe for the tailor tradeskill? And if so, does that mean that all the items I've collected for backpacks will be unuseable for this new bag? Will it be a quest item or a drop? Will we be able to purchase this new larger bag? OR will it be that they just increase the size of excisting bags? Bigger tradersatchels would be nice a start. Maybe an increase from 10 slots to 16 AND WR. My poor mules are usually at twice their weight limit now. Good thing they dont have to go far.

I for one would have been happy to see another 8 bank slots and maybe just maybe 2 more shared bank slots. 2 shared bank slots means alot of switching back and forth to move items around between banks. By adding 8 more bank slots would mean a max of 800 more slots for us! /gets lost in her dream.
But to me, the real solution to our problem of not enough space is to make them stack in larger amounts! Awhile ago the silks started to stack in 100 and even some items like Sunshard Pebbles stack in 150! SOE was on the right path with that change then they went and did the stupid thing of making some UF items stack in 5. Smiley: disappointed (One step forward and 10 steps back. /applauds SOE.) Sometimes I wonder if the people that design this game actually PLAY this game! If they did they too would know that larger stacks would be one of the best ideas the game could offer. To make an item stack in 20 when you need 100 or more PLUS you need 5 different items, (and some you may need 5 or more of one item for the combine) is just STUPID. By the time you get all the items needed to make ONE item you don't have room to put the final result. As things are now, I must use two toons to do tradeskills. One to hold the subcombines and one to do the actual tradeskill. In order to do this of course one must have two accounts. I am sure that most people do NOT have multiple accounts thus making doing tradeskills much more of a pain and take longer to accomplish.

I'm not a game programmer but it seems to me the easiest way to slove this long and ongoing problem is to make more bank space, then everyone would benifit. Make one code change that would make everyone happy seems to make some sense to me. When SOE added the extra 8 bank slots AND the shared bank they were on the right path! But the game has expanded greatly and more items added since then yet no more room to save these items nor bigger stacks.

The way I set up my bank(s) is... the center section is used totally for tradeskill items and I use green bags for ts items I am working on at the moment. The right side is used for the toons personal items such as armor (in white), spells (in red), augs and such. The left side if used for Keys, ( the ones that don't go on the keyring) no trade, and misc items. Having colored bags is wonderful to be sure and so much less drab.

One day while trying to clean my 16 banks, (yes I said 16. I need them to hold all my stuff!) I had a thought... how nice it would be to be able to have bags or bank slots labeled. Just a short label like "Spells", "Armor", "Foraged", "No Trade" etc. Then at a glance one would know where stuff is. Ok, I know this thought might be far fetched but a girl can dream!

Help on bank slots....you are able to create a guild, with one toon, and then have access to guild bank and its slots. Just an idea. Added bonus, the ports also. I have created a guild for my low level pk toon, mainly for the ports but use the guild bank for storage for Trader Armourcarr. If SoE decides to clean up guilds (remove low population guilds like they have in the past)...I will be in a world of hurt. The Chances I take...lol
And use Trader Satchels for bags in bank. Cheap, big and 10 slots. Heavy but if in bank, who cares.

I was hoping for the change in the Trade system, having your trade character run while you were offline or the possibility of having a trader vendor in other zones sounded like the best choice available, since I play on a laptop now, I'd prefer this..but we'll see when the changes come huh? I really was hoping that the chance to upgrade the skins on all zones would be available, seeing graphics from the 90s mashed with graphics from now seems sort of questionable to me...how about anyone else?

Source?

They {coders} have looked at it. It is a MAJOR and in fact dangerous code change. It would require a serious, non trivial alteration of the character file.

Blame the people that originally made EQ, but the way bags are stored in the character file does NOT make adding to the size of bags easy. It applies equally to the bank. It is MUCH easier (though also non-trivial, and still a good solid amount of work) to add slots to the bank.

We have gone over the slots many times
For various reasons, more slots in bags is a horrendously difficult, and actually dangerous code change. It can firmly be blamed on the original coders of EQ.

(this is in no way a promise) We are much more likely to get more bank slots again, or maybe a special "filtered" bank tab, or even "guildbank" like interface for your bank.

BUT I am not likely to be able to get a "just for tradeskillers" extra bank space through either realistically. (just code wise this is easier than making bags larger)

The items you linked are from 2006. As the OP stated, he heard/read "rumors"; therefore, I doubt there is a source.

I guess the source could have been that log-in poll. I think the option was more inventory space which could be anything from larger bags, more slots for bags, more bank space, etc. Personally, I think the more slots for bags would be the "easy" change for more inventory.

The other thing too….and I think there is a support group that meets on Wednesdays in Qeynos, CDWI meeting.(Can’t Destroy Worthless Items)
I know it is hard. I still break out in cold sweats every time my cursor gets close to the delete tab…. But what a mental relief. No more tossing-n-turning at nights. No more creating excel files to keep track. But then you have the problem of so many slots open and nothing in them…. That group I think meets on Fridays.

Good luck,

That's why I say all rumors are 100% false. They are usually traced back to someone saying "I really wish" or "wouldn't it be nice" or someone misinterpreting something like the log on poll like you mentioned.

The sources I provided may date back to 2006, but they are the most recent sources, traced back to a specific Developer quote, so they are still valid until the Devs say otherwise.

A better item to use than trader satchels is to use deluxe toolkits, then you could pull the whole container and hand it to another char.
